Environmental Sampling Tech - Sacramento
I work for AECOM. Large 50k international engineering firm. We are looking for a new environmental sampling technician. The job site is at McClellan AFB in Sacramento with 50% of the job taking place there and the other 50% at various other sites throughout the state (Chico and Tracy are two examples).
The job does have you working in all weather conditions with heavy rain being the exception. I was in the field working during the heat wave in late August when temps hit 110. Hours during summer are typically 0600 to 1430 due to heat and in the winter from 0700 to 1530.
Benefits are amazing as I have Kaiser Platinum and pay roughly $200 month for all medical for me and my wife, that includes dental and vision. Medical kicks in on your first day too! Does not matter if you start on the 5th or the 28th. There are 8 paid holidays and you earn 15 days of PTO.
You will be going to sites and collecting ground water samples. Sometimes you will collect soil and vapor as well but those are far between. Attention to detail is must.
I do not know if a 4 year degree is required.
Feel free to reach out if you have anyone interested. Right now its a small core group (15 guys + 1 girl) with 12 of them having worked together for 15+ years while 4 of us have been there less than 18 months. They need fresh blood as multiple guys are getting ready to retire in the next 5 years.
Note that even someone with construction experience will be looked at as some of the guys operate small earth moving equipment.
