Default Ruger Mini 14 Question

I have a Mini14, Stainless with a Synthetic Stock, I have owned and love this little powerhouse for many years. The Bolt is sticking open when the last shell in the magazine is ejected. There is a little "lever" that kicks up to hold the bolt open and should release when I insert a new magazine and pull back on the bolt, but it does not release. Cleaning and oiling is not correcting the problem, any suggestions? JH

Does the manual bolt hold-open rod press down freely, or is it stuck?

Does it release with no mag in it?

Put in an empty mag, pull the bolt back until it locks, remove the mag, pull the bolt back.

Did you remove the cover and clean/inspect the lever, spring and plunger?

I did remove the cover during cleaning and applied a light oil to all surfaces. The hold back catch works when I press the Hold Open Button and it seems to work just fine until I am shooting that last shot in the magazine. It seems like in the last shot, the bolt is hitting too hard and jamming the hold-open catch, but I can't find any type of adjustment. I can take a light hammer and tap it back into compliance when it happens. JH
