What a pathetically stupid post! What the hell does somebody's gender have to do with whether a flashlight is suitable for everyday carry or not?

Just a vendor who wants to shamelessly promote his products.

Look! It's right here where I found it on my website!
Don't use it...just carry it around...And, it's a gun light.

Olight is the most shameless company when it comes to marketing. There video team is really hard to watch as they salivate over their own products. Amazed at how Olight could release such a mind blowing product at that price. Then shilling out their product to every youtuber with 10k subscribers.

Get a Lumintop FW3A. It even works for men too.

Sorry to intrude, I've never posted in your forum before, I'm bored and kind of a flashlight snob.

I do think all ladies should carry a gun and a flashlight. I don't like being out at dark without either.

Streamlight single AAA or AA models are really good, stepping up in size slightly to a cr123, Surefire vampire is the perfect flashlight. There's probably a hundred companies with a similar size, check the specs. I haven't found anything that carries as well or has as good a throw/spill.
Surefire vamp/aviator is the best cr123 light ever, I have thousands in lights, but this one is perfect.

I wont bother your forum again unless some jerk spams about flashlights. Take care!

I tend to concur about having flashlights in the purse all the time. My "EDC" flashlight is a SureFire E2D Defender Ultra, which has little crenelations on both ends. I have carried this on airplanes for years and have never been even questioned. But those crenelations would do some really good damage, if things got tight. And, at night, that flashlight is in my hand pretty much at all times.

Big Fenix fan here. Wife and I both carry Fenix lights. Prefer the full-size of a PD35 Tac (1,000 lumens) or PD36R (1,600 lumens). Easier to handle and more intuitive to use.

This! I’ve been carrying Fenix lights for nearly 9 years, never been disappointed.

Hi Katie!

May I ask why you walk with a EDC flashlight at all times at night?

I'm not one of the girls who carries a bunch of stuff in my purse. If I was going to defend myself against an attacker, my CCW is my first choice. Because I don't carry it all of the time, my other option is a pepper spray. So, if I'm walking somewhere sketchy at night, I would prefer to have my pepper spray in my hand as I can address an attacker from further away. In limited situations, I have chosen to carry a knife instead. Though, I'm not looking to get into a close-quarters knife fight with an assailant. You are 100% correct that, if needing to go on an airplane, a gun, pepper spray, or a knife are not options. In that case, the flashlight (with crenelations is a bonus!) is the alternate option.

I am interested in hearing from a fellow female CalGunner about the pros and cons that prompted you to choose a flashlight over a pepper spray for walking at night.

It's a great question, and one perhaps worth discussing here?

So, pre-COVID I traveled 40 weeks a year, on airplanes, and loads of International. The CCW and even knives were just not an option in those days. (Heck, the CCW wasn't an option in CA until 3 years ago, when I was threatened in public.) I do my best to never get into sketchy places, and if it is even close, I want to be in a group. (Or in the case of walking through downtown Santiago, Chile at night, in the company of my large, young, Mexican friend who was with me.

Because of the limitations, I decided the smaller, as dangerous as possible flashlight would be my EDC. With COVID, and less travel, the CCW has taken the place of the flashlight, most of the time. But when the hand gun is not an option (such as PetCo Park), I have the flashlight still. I have never trained with pepper spray. In fact when I applied for the CCW, that was one of their questions: Have you tried less lethal means of protection such as pepper spray?

One funny story, to me anyway. Prior to the CCW permit, I was presenting to a bunch of SD County Sheriffs and the topic of personal security came up. I whipped out my flashlight and made a purposeful thrust or two in demonstration. You should have seen the look on their faces! I said, I probably shouldn't have done that here, right? They all shook their heads No...

What about others? What do you do? What do you do when there is no handgun? What do you do when you travel? What do you do when the clothes don't work for a hand gun, and the purse doesn't even hold the flashlight? Is there anything for that situation?

Katie
