Savage is releasing a ultra light in left hand!
Just got off the phone with Savage and pretty pumped. With the lefty options almost gone from Remington, Savage is going to keep the ball rolling. They should have a ultralight with a proof carbon barrel for us in the next few months. I know, only ten percent of us care.

Don’t think it’s on the site yet. Was talking to their custom shop.
Pretty excited about a factory 5.8 pound rifle for about a 1250$ street price. The proof barrel runs almost a grand after tax and shipping alone if you purchase it separately. |

Supposedly they're also releasing lightweight straight pulls as well. They can be swapped either right or left. That's what I'm waiting for.

There is an article on that one in the August American Rifleman. The Savage Impulse.

Yeah, but that one was a heavy barreled version that weighs almost 9 pounds. They're evidently coming out with some lightweight models.

Oh no, there goes my money. Hell of a bargain compared to Christensen arms and probably shoots better.
Great customer service. How often do you call the custom shop and they tell you to just wait a minute, and give you the early scoop on releasing a new rifle. I also called Remington about lefty guns and you can’t even get someone on the phone. Last edited by deckhandmike; 09-04-2021 at 8:16 PM.. |

I just don't know what cartridge I would get it chambered in. I have lightweight rifles in 7 Mauser and 270 Win.
About the only caliber I don't have covered is .25 so I guess I could go with a 257 Roberts or 25.06. But, I have .22s, 243s, 264s, 284s and 30s so they really wouldn't do much different.

That is their accustock. The ultralight comes with a hallowed out accufit stock. Which is plastic junk. I’ll probably throw it in a xlr magnesium chassis.
Im going 6.5 Creedmoor for a lightweight deer rifle. Last edited by deckhandmike; 09-19-2021 at 1:44 PM.. |
