Default PS90 TiG Welding? / Riflegear Faux silencer

Does anyone know TiG welders in the Bay Area?

I was looking at the Riflegear faux silencer for the PS90 and understand it needs to be pinned/welded but since the part is aluminum and the PS90 barrel is steel I was told if would need to be welded using TiG.

Any other options?

Ask your local gunsmith. Or crack open the yellow pages and ask around.

The faux silencer isn’t going to be welded to the barrel. So the dissimilar metals don’t matter in your case.

You would use an aluminum pin for the faux silencer in this instance. You can weld aluminum with either mig, tig or braze it

Also, Rifle Gear has done this many many times. You might want to just send yours to them and have them handle it from start to finish.

Get steel pin (screw) and steel muzzle device. They weld to each other fine.

You cant weld.aluminum to steel. Most likely a pin as mentioned above.

Yeah I emailed and asked if they could do it when I bought the faux silencer they said no. I offered to mail the barrel too. Is there only one branch that will do it?

FYI, the riflegear aluminum one looks brazed on (brazed over pin/screw holes) with aluminum brazing rod. I just un-effed a riflegear one. Don't need a Welder to do what they did. Just a propane torch and 4 screws (drill, tap, braze, paint)

DM sent to @ar15barrels thanks for the tip he sounds great based on post history:

EDIT: DOH he’s in SoCal. Back to the drawing board since the barrel is basically the firearm on a PS90.

Thanks if you’re in Norcal I’d happily pay you to do that to mine if you’re open to it?

Just bumping for the day crowd. Looking for gun smiths in the Bay Area you’d recommend who do this type of work.
