Just be patient, showing eagerness might disqualify you. Unless you have official documentation (ex. police reports) of why you need to be seen sooner, they might start questioning why you aren't being patient.

Here's my timeline since everyone is being antsy pantsy.

CCW Class 11/30
Applied 11/30 at night, submitted all paperwork required, sign up for earliest interview avail 1/15
12/02 Signed up for Livescan on 1/15 at 15:00
Interviewed 1/15
Livescaned 1/15

Got called in to pick up on 1/31

This is normal, it will show that until you have your interview and then it will show "assigning to investigator shortly" until you are finalized and called to get your permit.

I applied on 2/13 and when I went to make an appointment the first available was 4/6. I kept checking back and a spot opened for 3/26 so I switched to that. I figured when people reschedule their spot comes up in the system. With that in mind I kept checking every 4 or 5 hours and was able to reschedule again to 2/24. My advice: keep checking!

I applied on 2/15 and had an original appt of 3/31, but I checked a week later and I was able to get a 3/6 appt. So yeah, definitely keep checking.

Hey guys, is there any hope that we can get exclusive rights as CCWs holders in Cali? Maybe like Nevada where you are exempt from the 10day waiting period. Maybe exempt from the roster? Just thoughts, also remember boys and gals...VOTE PRO 2A this upcoming Tuesday.

Do any of you have an off-roster handgun on your permit? From what I can tell on the RCS Permitium it only says “Be sure that each firearm you are listing on your Concealed Carry Weapon license is registered to you or your spouse/registered domestic partner.” I assume no news is good news and I should be good to go to add it. Just wanted to make sure some others were able to have them on their CCW before trying, myself.

I believe that many members have stated that they were able to add otherwise legal, off roster handguns to their permit.

Does anyone have a link to where it explains what I need to bring to Ben Clarke for my firearms safety training and qualifications? I thought I had it bookmarked but now I can’t find it.

Applied: 1/17/20
Interviewed: 2/19/20
Livescan: 2/21/20
CCW Course: 2/22/20
Approved: 3/7/20

The process was not difficult at all. I messed up a little in my 20's around 10 years ago, (a few misdemeanors, nothing firearms or drug-related) but I have had a clean record ever since. My investigator was actually extremely nice and helpful. He literally just went over my application and good cause statement. He told me right then that everything checked out and he would just be waiting for me to get my livescan and complete the CCW course. The total time was less than 2 months but could have been less if I had completed the CCW course beforehand. If you have any questions or doubts, I'd encourage you to reach out to the CCW Unit before you apply.

Good luck.

Just posting it here for your guys' FYI.

Riverside University Health Center Hospital does not allow CCW holders to carry on their property...there is no official signage anywhere. One of the Nurses stopped a man who was open carrying a buck knife in its sheath and while the man grew upset, the nurse expressed that while he supports the right to carry a knife and those who are granted a CCW permit as it should be respected as a constitutional right, the hospital policy does not allow it. The security guard also repeated that there are no type of weapons allowed on hospital property. Shouldn't there be signage at the entrances...Arrowhead Regional tried to do the same to me, so I just headed back home, they got me F-Up if I'm going to place my weapon in the trunk in ghetto san berndoo.

If it's private property, such as the hospital, they can enforce whatever rules about weapons as they see fit. If you disagree and put up a fight and stay, you'll be criminally trespassing.

The facility is county-owned, not private. The County may have local ordinances which preclude carry in county buildings.

Also, while not a part of the Cal State University or UC system, the title of “University”, along with their “graduate” programs may carry enough weight to be included in the CA PEN 626.9(h) and (i) prohibitions against carry on university grounds. That would be a 2, 3, or 4-year jail term (felony).

A passing score of 70% would mean we can only miss 5 correct?

To be safe, 13 rounds landed anywhere on the black silouette would be a passing score. Slow fire. Not timed. Go to the range and practice and you'll have no problems. They will also allow you to reshoot 18 two additional times if you don't get it on the first.

Default Quick question about renewal

Hi everyone, I'm up for my first renewal... I have my interview scheduled, app finished, live fire scheduled, etc. Do I also need utility bills, birth cert, letters of recommendation, etc. for renewal? Thanks very much.

when in that situation you need to say "i understand, not a problem" leave and put the gun in your vehicle. concealed is concealed but if they do see it they can only ask you to leave and you'll only get yourself in trouble if you don't leave.

Unless you are qualifying with a 5-shot revolver, then you can only miss 4.

When you completed your online renewal application it asked you to upload the required documents at that time (it listed the items you need to upload). Yes, everything you mentioned except the recommendation letters are required, along with driver’s license. Upload them to your application.
