I've used light mineral oil. Peanut oil will turn rancid eventually.

I suspect glove conditioner is petroleum based as well mostly lanolin with some 'mystery' additives.

I don't mean ti hijack but I ordered some Krowtann from VanDykes and they never noted the shipping costs until after the order was placed. $18.64 shipping on a $25 item is excessive so I'll never do that again.

Great write up. I tried brain tanning on a couple whitetail deer several years ago. The instructions I had were not as good as the one Mofugly13 has posted and my hides came out very stiff. I'm still not sure which is best, brain tanning or chemical tanning. I like the idea of using a more natural method but I'm a little reluctant to touch brains with CWD (and maybe other diseases) suspected of being transmitted by brains. Anyone have experience with both methods and have any opinions on which work best?
