Default Now in Alaska

After my time working in Houston ended with a major heart attack. I ended up takin a disability retirement and moving in with my sister in Anchorage. The place desperately needs indoor ranges. There aren't any here where the weather makes practice impractical. Anyone that has the knowhow and finance could make a pile here. I tried discussing it with a chain firm " shoot point blank" and got nowhere with them.. Corporate inertia " not in our area"logistics are a problem "Fix that and charge ludicrous money.

I thought in AK you just sit in the warm kitchen and shoot out the back door?

Only in the hinterland. 96% of Alaska is owned by the federal government and 3% by state and local government. Leaving just 1% for private ownership so, new housing tracts are 4500 sq.ft. usually 50' by 90'. Source: my Alaska State trooper brother.

Was involved in a very early preproposal to develop an indoor shooting range in alaska, I don't recall where exactly. HVAC and air filtering are very expensive. We put in a bid for preliminary sound engineering and as far as I know the project went nowhere.

The Boise area has two indoor ranges. Worth noting that both of them have extensive retail operations as well, and both have sister operations in other states. Perhaps you could contact one or both:

I shot at the outdoor range in the middle of the winter while stationed in Alaska plenty of times. Just had to reload the mags while sitting in the car with heater on lol.

Howdy Chuck, might just take a drive up to Matanuska sportsmans, they're open year round. Birchwood has gotten crazy expensive, I no longer go there. Maud is still nice too.
