Default Calls going out on the CMP 1911s

Over on the CMP forums it has been confirmed The CMP1911 is starting to contact people about the 1911s that are up for sale. The contacting is via phone so if you are waiting to hear, make sure your phone is on.

I get a lot of spam calls that I don't answer... Any word if caller ID says Aniston AL?

The phone calls I have gotten in the past from CMP do say that. I always answer calls from Anniston

That was fast. Thought it would be a lot longer. Hoping to get a call then in the days and weeks to come.

Area Code is 256 in case it doesn't ID as Anniston.

You can't for now. No longer accepting orders. The next chance if there is one will probably be two years from now.

Just an FYI; From the CMP thread many people were worried about missing the call and missing out on their opportunity. The CMP said they will leave voice mails if no one answers.

Are they not contacting people via email as a secondary measure?

there wont be another chance until they run out of orders packets. Every order packet was numbered, which could be up to a decade from now.

I'm not sure. What I read was they will make every effort to contact people, so they may use e-mail if phone fails.

I was expecting the contact to be via email, but it looks like phone is the primary way for now.

I really do get all the craziness to go through this, but to each his own I guess. I personally would not go through the hoops you have to to purchase these, or any Firearm for that matter.

A large percentage of these will hit the secondary market anyway. So alot easier to pay a little markup, and actually evaluate what you are purchasing and let someone else take the risk, and aggravation in my opinion..

Agreed ar22. I am not currently in the market for a real 1911, but when I am im sure there will be an opportunity. Be it gunbroker or the various forums. Good luck to everyone that did enter. I am excited to see all the talk.

So far it seems just the one guy on the CMP forum that has gotten the call. Probably more - they are just not active on these forums.

On the CMP forum they said "17000+" packets and the law allows up to 10k pistols per year, so they could possibly take more orders in 2020.

Latest email from CMP dated 11/6 says 19,000 packets.

Our Random Number Generator (RNG) has selected random numbers for all the packets received. We are working on assigning those random numbers to the 19,000 packets we have received.

didn't I also hear that they only have 10k pistols for now, and don't know when they're getting more? I didn't think they expected to get another 10k each year, even though it's technically allowed it wasn't guaranteed. So that 19k might take longer to get through. But it also seems that if you are in the 19k, you will eventually be contacted. You also have to consider after the first few get delivered and reviews come out, some later folks who are contacted will decline or won't have the money.

Email today also said everyone would be contacted, including those who did not make the cut. It said it may take another 60 - 90 days to get through the packets, so don’t lose hope yet.

I believe the number that is going to be available for those that turned in their packet is between 6000 - 7000 since of the 8000 received some are going to auction and the rest have not passed their inspection process. Some hope that another 10K will be transferred in 2019 and that could still happen.Beyond that it will have to be included in the 2020 budget and with the current wind change in congress it may be awhile before anymore 1911's come to the CMP.

Here's hoping I get a call, maybe I'll get one that was actually issued to me when I was in the Army.

I won't be heartbroken if I don't get the call. I'll just put the money I've set aside for this towards another modern 1911 for my collection and start saving for the next offering.

I sure interested in seeing what folks get...I think they tried (in usual CMP fashion) to downplay the condition of these guns....Hope you guys score. I didn't need to order since I added a a usgi to my boat collection years ago.

Some guys are now getting their 1911s.

As someone not alive in 1963, but who owns many Stoeger Shooters Bibles of the era this CMP 1911 kind of psuedo-maybe fills my wish for a mail order 1911 from surplus.

Still waiting on my call and my RNG. Expecting 18,999. Anything better is a nice surprise.
