Default Rte 66 GSSF - who's in?

Mmm looking forward to this GSSF match. Last one I went to was prepandemic 2019 at Burro. Who is going?

Anyone familiar with teams? I want to register a team but I'm wondering if we all need to be the same rating?

Anyways, I'm in!

Planning on it but won't commit until it gets a bit closer. Should be a pretty good contingent coming from Vegas.

Nice! Sucks there's none in Vegas. Not even the indoor legague.

I can't find team registration on the new GSSF website.

*update - I asked GSSF and they said all participants must be present and registration is on site only.

Doesn't seem like there's much interest here. Hopefully that means there won't be 300 people there like the past matches. Just need the M's to not show up haaha.

Burro was ran pretty good. But I want to say that Piru and Raahauges had more people attending. That was a long time ago so I could be recollecting incorrectly haaaha.

I can go back and check the numbers but the last couple matches at Burro we were pushing 500 entries. I don't think Piru had near that many. Raahauges might have been around 400.

I know a few Ms that will be there... 😎

Wow those numbers are cool to see, thanks for posting them.

I was at Raahauges as an RO for the 2014 match and was shocked at how many people showed up. That was a long day.

Still have that blue polo shirt they gave us haaha. Those new mesh vests are cool - literally. I remember roasting in that polo working the match haaha.

I did not know there was going to be GSSF match at Route 66 SSP this year.

I may be going.

I think I worked that one also. Still have a lot of GSSF RO shirts! LOL! I think they dropped the vests for this year. I kinda liked them too.

For Teams you sign up at the match. Everyone either has to shoot AmCiv or Master Stock. You all don’t have to be present to complete the form, but you all need to shoot the match over the weekend.

The last few matches in Azusa were almost 500.

There’s typically an outdoor match in the Las Vegas area the weekend following SHOT. The last few years it was held in Littlefield. 2024 might have something at BRPC.

Azusa was an awesome match even if the MD was a bit of an ***...

I was always happy to help at that match and really miss it. The MD is actually a cool guy and if I ever get to MD a match I hope I can do half as good a job as you did.

Hope to see a bunch at Rt. 66!

Well, all good things come to an end, and I?m happy that a good range picked up the reigns and I?ll be there to support them and collect my free pistol come next month?.

I didn't know Route 66 was actually holding one until I saw this post today. Where are they advertising this? I am signed up for Route 66 emails and had no message from them... I think Jojo Vidanes is on Calguns too?

I let my GSSF membership expire last year because Burro wasn't hosting it anymore and I wasn't going to travel to matches where I would have to spend the night somewhere. If R66 is going to continue hosting and if glock starts adding more models to the roster, I may sign back up.

Check out the GSSF website. It's match 5 of the 6 remaining this year...the time is flying by! You can join and register from the website or walk on as well. Its better to register on the website. I got a few people at my local range to join and register for this match and they're saying that they got the Blue Label coupon now! That's cool because they used to make you wait for a year. I know one dude used it to buy the pistol he's going to shoot the match with haaha.

But who knows if RTE66 is going to keep hosting, I guess that's a question for JoJo. Maybe this is just a feeler to see if they can host 500 people. It's been a few years but it'd be nice if Uncle Mike and his meat sticks would be there! haaaaaha

Touche!
I only know from my experience which was learning of GSSF matches by going to the range. Piru had signs and I used to shoot NRG and steel madness at Raahauges. Ron put on a fun steel match. Was there other promoting?

I looked on RTE 66 website and there's no calendar of events. I've been trying to talk my local indoor range to do the indoor league. I even volunteered myself to run it...but I have no idea what to do, I've never ran a match. Nor have I participated in the GSSF Indoor league. Has anyone here done it?

I wasn't really calling anyone out, just saying I haven't really seen any promotion on this match. There was some discussion about a year ago (?) about it coming and a few other other random comments but other than this post I have not really seen any promotion. I have never been to RT 66 and have not checked their website but I do see it on the GSSF site so there is that.

The other matches you noted were all pretty much word of mouth but once you got on their mailing lists most are really good about notices of upcoming matches. But these are mostly local matches. GSSF should be able to draw from the neighboring states as well as locally. I know I and some other Vegas locals are making the trek for this one. Hopefully a bunch of Californians will make the drive to Vegas in January for that match.

See you in a couple weeks. I will be the old guy pulling the red wagon...

I signed up using the GSSF form but have yet to hear back. Has anyone received an email or phone contact after signing up to volunteer? I don't want to drive out there to be told that my services are not required.

The contact at R66 is Caleb Wu, maybe give the range a call and ask for him. Tbh, you can never have too many volunteers, so I doubt you?d be turned away.

Lets say it went well all things considered. They were a little short on volunteers due to some miscues and we wound up with only 1 plate rack. 238 entries went through with the majority on Sat and about 80 on Sun. It was a learning experience for the range and I think you will see a greatly improved match next year.

I shot Sunday and couldn?t have been more satisfied with experience. The wait to verify the waiver at the range office took longer then the wait at the stages.

I shot all 9 divisions of which I am eligible, and pretty much when I X?d in at every stage they were ready for me to start slinging lead. My only wait was at the Plate Rack and that was due to one disorganized competitor, and some nice ladies there were shoot 2/3 each that I traded 4s with. Regardless, I first signed in around 0930, and I was done just before 2PM.

I other news theee is going to be a match at Oaktree Gun Club in Newhall the weekend of March 16/17.

Ah, so its Oak Tree then. Should be interesting. I wonder if they have the room to run 400 guns? 🤔

Oak tree barely has parking and room to run their normal weekends.

What was this about GSSF January in Vegas? I looked and it only shows this years matches.

Jan 27-28 @ Boulder Rifle Pistol Club. There is a save the date post in this section. GSSF should be releasing the 2024 calendar soon. Hope to see you there.

Hey all! Great time at the competition. It was actually my first one ever, and I ended up winning!
I honestly don't really care for another Glock right now, as my 19 serves me just fine in my opinion (unless someone wants to turn it into a Glock 48 MOS for me)
Anyone want to trade something for it? I am interested in another firearm as I only have two, and would like to see if theres someone out there who was itching for a new Glock and wants to get something out of their safe thats collecting dust haha. Will also put some money on top of the certificate if its something real nice and that I am interested in.
Again, the match was super fun and thanks for the great experience and inviting environment to come and shoot! I definitely will see you guys at other ones in the future.

I?d invest in a G29 or G30 as they?re elidgible to shoot in all the divisions. You?ll also be able to dip you toes in MajorSub where we separate the ?Men from the Boys?.

Congratulations @burnerjones on your win! It's ok that you want to get something else. Especially since you said your collection is two at the moment. One idea behind the Glock certificate is so you obtain another Glock and which allows you to win more categories...but I understand one needs to get the guns they want. Nothing wrong with that. Good shootin!

@roundeye
It seems like majorsub would separate the big dogs from the pups however I'm drawn away from it because it has, at least out here, shooters loading 10mm to 40 major or even 40 minor. Thats just bs. Its not against the rules, but it certainly doesn't separate **** when it comes to shooters ability. I get it - the gamers are gonna game...

Indeed they do.

I still haven't shot major sub. I was planning on it and even picked up a 29 and a 30 to prepare. I shot my G40 a few years ago at Burro. The RO was asking, why is your 10mm so loud? Haaaha

Hopefully next month or March I will get to shoot major sub...time to squish out some 10mm minor to compete with the big dogs haaaha. I kid I kid, take it easy.

Cool, hope to see you in Vegas. Remember, you can shoot the G29 in Sub & HM too!
