After January it does not. New law signed in does not require microstamping until 2028, so 3 : 1 will go into effect.

What effect does Renna have on this issue? I understand that the trial court's finding of unconstitutionality is up on appeal and the writ of mandate was stayed, but isn't this the same issue? And if so, how does the State justify the law without admitting that its purpose is to eliminate semi-auto firearms in the state over time, in direct contravention of the 2A and despite the fact that the three removed presumptively satisfy the requirements of the Roster law?

The worst part about the handgun roster is law enforcement getting to sell off-roster guns for profit.

You can sell an off-roster gun for profit too though.

That has been somewhat quelled by recent legislation and the arrest/prosecution of LEOs for flipping off roster guns.

I see. My position is that law enforcement officers and ordinary civilians should live under the same gun laws.

That is a different argument with which I agree. But it does not track with your earlier comment:

The laws favor LEO in acquisition of off-roster firearms, not their sales.

As noted by others, we can also sell off-roster guns for a profit. I have a number of off roster guns but I elect to keep them.

The inequity is access to inventory not sales.

So, I would posit that the most egregious part of the roster is the inequitable restriction on inventory which is fully slanted to LEO.

State does not justify anything. They can, and they do. They elected not to fight microstamping right now, to increase their chances not to be slapped with a preliminary injuction on entire roster (worked, apparently), but just adopted a new law. that can not be currently challenged that will add it back "if feasible" by 2028. Side effect is that 3:1 can go into effect in January.

Nice but the so-called "Roster" is still unconstitutional on its face. Law abiding citizens are entitled to state of the art weapons of their choice

New roster pistols. I wish it was the Hellcat Pro instead of the Hellcat.

I will never buy a gun with magazine disconnect safety. Well, I do own one currently - Walter P22 I got for my son, and it is the worst idea ever.

I haven't changed my 1st gen M&P .45 with a mag disconnect. All I need is a spring S&W used when it doesn't have the mag disconnect. I can get the OEM part needed for $10 on eBay. Posts about it has prompted me to look into doing it. There are YouTube videos on how to change it.

ETA: I just checked and the Pro version isn't on the roster right now. Just the regular Hellcat.

The Smith & Wesson M&P 2.0 series is fantastic. These are some excellent additions to the roster, especially the Smith & Wesson M&P9 Shield M2.0.

If your son lives out of state he can gift you any off roster pistol you want that isn't an AW.

Glock won?t do the necessary changes to get their firearms on the roster.

Can?t blame them. Hopefully S&W steps up.

S&W has had mag disconnect for years on some of their pistols. Long before it was a requirement to sell. It's something Gunnies have been arguing about since the Browning High Power came out.

Why does every gun have an expiration date of January 1, 2024?

All guns on the roster expire at the end of each year. It's like $20 to re-add them each year, which every manufacture always does.

I see. The state certainly does not miss any opportunity to charge another de facto tax on the firearms industry.

Just FYI my S&W 659 made from the early seventies to the early eighties has a mag lock so it's nothing new to S&W.

Before posting about it, I had to go search to be sure. The S&W Model 39 from 1954 had a magazine disconnect safety. That was what I remembered but I wanted to find something to back it up.

So when can we expect a ridiculous opinion from the hostile 9th Circus motions panel denying the two roster preliminary injunctions and completely ignoring Heller and Bruen? Not that I want that at all of course, but this IS the 9th with a long history of this stupidity.

I fully expect no common use test, no THT, asserting the plaintiffs are not likely to succeed on the merits, and vast amounts of interest balancing balancing to justify it all.

I hope I?m wrong and this PI gets fully upheld. Hopefully we hear something soon.

I reckon we will not see anything until 2024. The handgun roster microstamping requirement is tricky to uphold, even for shameless progressive activists.
