The two are directly related. If there's no need to be "deemed OK" then there is no need for bureaucracy, a plastic card, and a picture.

Being "deemed OK" is unconstitutional. So is bureaucracy, a plastic card, and a picture.

Just got called to schedule pickup on 12/14. I believe the delay was caused by somebody's not looking at my email. I emailed again on September 28th and the confirmed receipt on the 29th. It's been a long haul for this one.

Are we going to be held to SB2's new requirements if we already started the process? I'm still waiting for my Interview call.

Really does look like they're working on a backlog of pickup calls now. This thread was radio silence for a while.

I wont hold my breath. If you feel up to it give them a call ask for the date your app was input and see what they say about timeframe.

I called earlier this week and got the same response of when my app was put into queue (11/29/22) and that they are still working on October's queue. Then the deputy went over my app to verify my email address and that it won't be long til I hear from them.

As such, we need some plaintiffs.

I am looking for three categories of people:

1. Those who applied a long time ago but haven't had even an interview yet.
2. Those who recently applied and are looking at a very long wait.
3. If anyone was denied for an arbitrary reason, we may include claims about that too.

I mean no offense by my next comment, but please only volunteer to be a plaintiff if you are a model citizen or close to it. We don't want a nasty surprise in which they argue in court that your wait is irrelevant because you'd be denied anyway because of X,Y, and Z in your past.

For those that do email me, include a few sentences about yourself and the facts of your application process so far. kmoros@michellawyers.com

Thanks!
Any new info with this possible lawsuit?

right now im being held up by my proof of residency as my trash bill which i used last time i applied switched to being paid through my taxes. should have a new one this week but my interviewer deputy ROJAS is being very strict about it being 1 page bill and will not even accept an FFL registered to my home address. they will seem to take nothing other than listed no matter how official it is. and if you a good laugh the deputy doing my interview had no idea what a federal firearms license was or a certificate of eligibility i had to explain it just shows the level of competence going on in the ccw unit
applied 6/25/2022
interview 11/3/2023

They must have just changed that requirement. Deputy Rojas did my interview as well and she was a pleasure speaking with. Did not come off strict or have any issues with what i provided, even provided her direct # if help is ever needed with the process and quickly responded to my email confirming receipt of everything.

I hope you can get all this squared away soon.

i am unfortunatley having the complete opposite experience with her as she is being very strict to what is on the list and it being 1 page which is the only thing holding up my application. my only suggestion to people is make sure your proof of residency is updated so you dont end up with a pointless extra month wait.

Ditto with her! She was great and even answered an email like at 10pm! sent an email at 6am and she answered me back at like 10am. The interview was smooth and not tense with her at all. Other than the time it's taken, they have been very responsive, once I got the interview done, which was all over the phone. Just waiting for the Call for Pickup date. Probably another month.

My skepticism was warranted, no call this week. We?ll see what next week holds. I hope it?s not let?s issue a handful of cards and wait another month.

It is unfortunate to tell you all this, but Vince Ricci, the man who defended his family from robbers with his CCW at his front door in mid-city, had his CCW permit revoked for "yelling at officers" due to how he felt regarding the quality of the police work was being done. They are disarming an innocent man.

Is there a process for changing out a pistol before the CCW is issued? With the p365 on roster now I'd like to pick one up and use it as an option.

Would that require another live scan for firearms?

And lastly, is there a good online training option for LA?

Thanks all

Before your interview or at least before you submit your training documents, qualify with the new weapon. Add it to your training documents. Have the instructor sign-off on it. During the interview inform Deputy of the addition to your app. When the time comes to submit training docs...do so. Should be it.

In line with the other timelines… applied June 28, 2022. I missed a call to pick up last Thursday 10:30am. No caller id. They left a brief cryptic message and that they would call back later. Never called back. Do they only work on Thursday’s? Should I try to reach out. I work nights so I may be sleeping during the day and may miss another random call.

So far i've seen Wednesdays and Thursdays but I would call them if I were you. I saw another member had a similar situation but they actually called him right back the same day so hopefully they haven't forgotten about you. Worth calling and asking.

Probably a stupid question: has anybody had success changing out a firearm on their license without waiting for the renewal time? I have 3 firearms on imy CCW already. My principal is a Glock 19. I recently obtained a Glock 43 that is so much lighter and easier to carry. I have 18 months before my renewal.

That's a no-go with LASD.

I got a call from Deputy Roxas last Wednesday, 11/22/23 for the interview. Basically, just going to the application I submitted. She mentioned that it will take 4-6 months more to complete the process. I aske her if I can proceed with the training. She didn't directly saying yes, as she explained that the training is good for only a year and if something comes up or there is a delay, then I have to go through the training again. Better to wait for the PTT email. But I might proceed on training when I get a chance as we are busy at work. She gave me her cellphone number to contact if I have question. It was a good conversation.

07/05/22 - App Submitted
08/04/23 - Live Scan completed
10/22/23 - Entered in CCW system
11/22/23 - Phone Interview
PTT Email - TBD

Clearly applications are being slow-walked. My 2nd application (1st post Bruen),
was entered before yours. Still waiting for an interview.

If it?s taking 18 months, and they are good for 2 years, it only slows the process.
Since the initial permit takes 18 months through the LASD, and 12+ months at the LAPD, and each have a backlog of thousands of people, I would encourage everyone to call your state senator and assembly members and ask them to relieve the burden on Law Enforcement, and to extend the validity of the permit to be aligned with other states and the DMV.
Permits can always be suspended or revoked within any time period.
2 years seems not to work in the system.

It almost feels like they're doing call for pickups one week out of the month only. I'm worried they'll call me while I'm traveling and am out of pocket for days at a time.

There's a decent amount to unpack there. It changes requirements for obtaining a CCW as well as designating, basically everywhere, a sensitive place where you cant carry.

It's starting to look like this is the case, which is unfortunate and highly frustrating. It's almost like they are making efforts to speed up everybody that's newly applying at the expense of those of us who have already waited over a year to get to the finish line. I guess it makes sense from the standpoint of trying to get lawyers off your back, but man, I'm pretty fed up with this process.

The family and I were in Mojave, CA earlier this month which has turned into a real hell hole. We were pulling our RV through and needed to stop to feed our screaming baby, grab lunch and just try to collect ourselves and the kids to make the next stretch. It was hands down the. most. unsafe. I've ever felt, anywhere.

Needless to say we hustled out of there, but man, knowing that I was deprived of my ability to protect my family really got to me that day.

Geez. I have 2 missed calls in that past couple of weeks that came from an unknown number, and voicemails left saying it's Deputy somebody from LASD (couldn't make out the name) and to call him back to do my interview. Of course both times he doesn't leave a call back number and there's no caller ID.

I didn't purposely ignore the calls as he first called after 6pm one night and I was at the gym, and again while I was in a work meeting and couldn't take any calls.

I called the Sheriff's dept in my area and one in Montebello and they have no record of this. I originally mailed in my app & payment on 6/29/22 and just now received the calls almost 18 months later. It looks like I have to submit another application and pay another app fee to start this all over, and from the backlog I can probably expect another call in 2025

You need to call the CCW unit, not your local Sherrif's... call them now at (213) 229-3110 before they throw your app out.
