Just a shout out for the people at 29 Outdoor. I just bought my second gun from them. They are knowledgable and courteous. They deal with each customer individually rather then assembly line style. Pricing seems to be in line with a "small shop" model.

A FYI on the guy they have doing gunsmithing work there. My Brother took his Marlin 444 there to have the guy install a Limbsaver grind to fit recoil pad. He knew exactly what Bro wanted and it was noted on the work order.
When he went to pick it up, three weeks later than promised, the guy had put on some other thin pad that would've done nothing to reduce recoil. Guy was waffling and kind of giving my Brother the runaround so had to escalate to the Owner of the shop. Ended up getting the rifle back without any recoil pad as he had thrown the stock pad away. Don't know how he could screw up something that straightforward but he did...

Been in there every time we head up to the wine country. I've done a few ammo pickups way back before the FSC and background check days. Haven't bought ammo in a very long time. The guys there have always been good to talk to and knowledgeable. Honestly, I liked their original location across the parking lot, it was a much bigger shop w/more inventory. Not sure if that has anything to do with it, but whenever I would try to buy needed accessories, they never had what I wanted. Oh well. No biggie.
They're a bit too far for a gun purchase as we'd have to go across the bridge each time and City Arms is within a 10 minute drive for us.

As a supplement to the Gunsmithing work, Kyle is who I would defer the basic work to. The more complicated work (like using a lathe or refinishing) gets sent out to another gunsmith in Marin and 29 takes a cut of the work. They did a great job on my Benelli M3 and Mark 23, but took way too long on my Jericho 941 and nothing was done when I picked it up 5 months later. The reason I got was because they were prioritizing gunsmith work for waterfowl season. I love 29 for the administrative aspect of guns, but don’t count too heavily on them to do anything beyond basic things like machining or refinishing. For that, take it to a dedicated gunsmith like Maraviov or Rubicon.

Had a great experience here. Very friendly and efficient. Had to do a PPT and the seller was nice enough to drive more than half way to meet up and the good folks at 29 Outdoor Gear took care of us with a smile and a little history lesson from the knowledge older gentleman. I will definitely stop by if in the area.

I realize this is an old thread.
But Paul the gunsmith is a fantastic resource in the gun community. Guy knows his stuff. Especially if you want revolvers worked on. Staff all around was great.
