You guys did a great job! Has anyone been out there since this clean up? Have the weekend warriors trashed it again? I know this section well, When I am there for a short time I use it for 100 to 150 yards sighting of newly scoped rifles or to shoot new handguns the first time. I haven't had time as of late to go out, but will be going out next week, hoping it isn't another shoot & clean up a 1,000 pounds of someone else's junk.

Thank you, I was the one that organized the clean up. We did clean a big area but unfortunately it is still a mess in all other areas out there. The most of the trash is used targets and shotgun shells. I've been out there a few times since then and makes me sad when I see fellow shooters not cleaning up their mess. I plan to hold another clean up next year, so if your up to it just watch this thread in the future.

And by the way I hauled out almost 800lbs of trash at that last clean up. The cost was just under $30, but well worth it.

Default This is what that section looked like on 12/23

You Guys did a great job! I was out with a couple of friends on Tuesday 12/23. The Weekend warriors trashed it again. The sad part is while we were shooting a father and two teenage boys came up parked about 40 yds from us, when they left, they left empty handed. They actually stacked their trash behind their truck. They were not the degenerate type, clean cut. But had the frame of mind that everyone else does it, why not us. We actually picked some of it up and took it with us. Just couldn't believe it. Here are some before and after picks.

I'm going to look into putting up some signs. (Yes I know some people will probably shoot them or pull them out) but we need to try and assist the BLM in cleaning up this place. Or we will be forced to go to ranges and pay a fee if this area is closed to shooting.

I will have some free time in mid February, and will be looking into a dumpster for a 2 day cleanup. I will keep everyone updated

Hey guys, I would like to join this effort on the next clean up where I am home. I am overseas right now until march or April but if this happens again when I am home I am willing to joing you guys and will encourage local members to do the same I contact with on a normal basis. I can also pitch in on dumpster fees and do have a truck.

I highly recomend starting a new thread with a date and a funding account where everyone can pitch in...even from members who cant help clean up can help out immensly with just $5 or $10 a piece. If you shoot there and cant even help with at least a few buck then I think that is selfish.

I encourage you guys to do this sooner than my arrival back home of course but another planned clean up when I am home would be nice so I can get in on this action. Set up a gofund me account or something and I will pitch in.

After 10/18/14 cleaning

On 12/23/14

Bummer!
We made a big dent in that area with a small group of people on that clean up!
Sad to see it almost back to the way it was B.C. (Before Clean-up)
I shoot there regularly, and I always pack out more than I bring. I'm always in my Ford F250 truck (Burgundy) CGN sticker on the bumper! Stop and say "Hi"
I'm in for any clean ups next year!

Post Hodge Road Cleanup

First of all Thank you for your efforts, Second yes its sad that people just leave trash and drive away like nothing happened. Third I have talked to BLM and they really don't wanna help because they say either no funds or some of the land there is private property, and I give them GPS coordinates of other spots and don't hear back from them. I feel like its a cat and mouse game and no one wants to help. I tired to get help from Burrtec which is the land fill management out there and they say they are run by the county which is BLM. I did get a price for a 40 yard roll away dumpster and it was $624.77 for 7 days and up to 40 tons of trash. So we could pitch in for one or we can load our own trucks and haul out like we did the last cleanup.

Please include me in any future trash clean-ups! This is a great shooting area that we must try to preserve. Unfortunately, this is an immense problem. Any effective remediation will require a partnership between the BLM, waste disposal companies, and many volunteers. Thank you Sean714 for heading such a difficult project! Again, please include me in any future efforts.

No problem, I not only do it for me but for all of us good guys that respect that public lands. If we organize another cleanup I'll let you know so you can join us. Thanks for wanting to be a part of our cleanup crew.

I really admire those of you that sacrifice to clean out Hodge Rd.

I only go there once in a while, and see f**king stupid irresponsible people dumped all kinds of stuffs out there for target shooting. One time, I went 1 time and came back next month, and I saw something unusual. It was a big fridge that was recently brought out there as a target. Who's in his right mind would do that?

Whenever I go, I always collect all of my trash including the paper ammo box.

Thank you, I couldn't have put this last cleanup together without the help of the members that showed up. I hope next time I can get more members involved so we can cleanup more areas. I would just hate for Hodge to get closed cause the dummies that trash the place.

I'll have to keep checking this forum for another cleanup of Hodge, I'd like to help. I've checked my maps and pulled county records for this spot, 99.9% of the land west of the 15 is privately owned. There is less than a square mile of BLM land and it's about 2 wiles west of the Hodge exit. I'd imagine the land owners don't care about the trash because they haven't seen it. It looks like most of the owners are corporations or from out of the area.

Yes, I had heard that Hodge road was now almost 100% off limits and shoot at your own risk of being caught... that's what I was told by some guys from Upland PD

Ya, they could probably bust you for trespassing as it is all private property, except one tiny little spot you would need a map to find, but that is about it. It's outside of the county mandated "shotgun only" areas so I can't see them busting you for shooting hard projectiles.

Hey everyone, I wanted to see if we are up for another cleanup next month (March) sometime, maybe March 18 or 21st ? Both dates are on a Saturday, or is Sunday better for everyone. Please chime in and let me know.

If you say "you heard Hodge Road is closed", then can you cite some official sources? Rumors won't help.

Hey everyone, Ive been super busy with stuff lately. My grandfather passed away last week and I haven't had time to set a date nor think about when the next cleanup will be. I did find a resource that may help us on the next cleanup, again I'll keep you guys posted when we can set one up.

Sean714, My Prayers and condolences go out to you and your family. No rush on the clean up, the trash will always be there. I'm pretty busy in April, but if you post a date, I'll see if I can make it

I don't think it is closed, it's just private property.

Nothing is set, but we could get one together. I did organize one a few years ago but didn't have the turnout I hoped for. But don't get me wrong the ones that showed up really put in hard work. I pulled 800lbs of trash with my truck out of there.

I know it's a mountain to climb but I would be down to help ( plus my shooting buddy). Hopefully when it's a little cooler, but it needs some TLC for sure.

Default Hodge Road BLM Clean Up 2016

Standby- Update

Anyone who did the recent Steele peak or Bee Canyon some of the folks involved will be getting together to prep Hodge for Mid Oct or Early November.

We have a large interest from Heavy machine operators in the area and have comms with the local Sheriff and BLM at this time. Once a date is confirmed and the CalGuns Brass gives the green light a new thread or updated thread will be started.

We are hoping to get "TheRealBigDaddy" and crew out there with some BBQ and free stuff for everyone involved again.

Standby- We are having issues with Private land vs BLM< a large trust owns the land off Hodge. Liability and politics may prevent a organized clean up.
