Any chance of them sponsoring a 40' roll off dumpster for the range clean up?

If you see the post before yours, I explain that they can't do anything for us
Cause it's BLM land and they are Run by the Federal Goverment. I'll be contacting BLM again the first part of October. But so far I've had no luck at anybody wanting to help us out with a dumpster or waiving landfill fees.

I was out at Hodge road last Saturday and it was full of trash everywhere. I was on the left side of Hodge. There's is tons of shotgun shells and wood targets. We did clean our area up and I took some old used targets people left behind. But we have our work cut out for us, let's just focus on one or two areas and go from there.

I emailed BLM again yesterday about getting us a dumpster out to Hodge road for our cleanup. I explained that I have exhausted all my resources so far trying to get someone to help with the dumpster fees. I would think she will get back to me sometime this week and I will update you guys on the status.

Sean, thanks for your effort on this. It's beginning to look like we're paying our own dump fees though. Oh well, it's still cheaper than accumulative range fees. Just curious, do you think it might be of any use to contact the actual dump sights for the slight chance that maybe the guy in charge would be willing to help. I usually go to the one off of Stoddard Well Rd. north end of Victorville.
And another thought that could work is asking them or one of folks you've been contacting for a reduced fee. Like $5, this way they're not actually giving away the store, if you know what I mean. Sometimes management can do almost anything as long as they're not doing it for free. Just brainstorming here. And again I know someone needed to take the lead on this, so for those of us that give a hoot, thanks for stepping up to the plate.

Yea, so far it looks like we may have to take care of the trash we take out ourselfs. I did contact the Victorville Landfill (Burrtec)this week and they said call the Barstow Burrtec because Hodge is not in their area of service. I can tell you one thing is I already talk to Tim Williams (Manager) at the Barstow one and he said they are run by the county of S.B. and they really cant help us. If you check a previous post I do talk about this already, and thank you for supporting my efforts to clean Hodge Road. And also Im still waiting on the final word from Cecilla at BLM. so ill keep everyone posted and should have an answer by early next week.

Cars with low clearance are not recommended because some of the dirt roads have some rough spots. You can park just where the road ends and turns into dirt. I see people park there and a friend will come pick them up and take them to their spot. Im sure I can or someone else wouldn't mind giving you a ride if the road is to rough.

I think it was mentioned that it was $12 for the first 300lbs. What are the fees beyond that?

Seems like it shouldn't be that much to split up the fee among those participating.

I'd love to go but my girls have AYSO on Sat...any chance one of these could be held on Sunday?

I've been there in my car and my truck. In my car I simply avoid the roads with big dips. The main roads are pretty much level and cars still access most of the roads anyway. I don't think you'll have a problem. Only thing I don't like is the washboard effect on that strait road up the middle. Turn off the cd player unless you want Waylon to sound like a rapper!

Sean, since you plan on arriving at Hodge about 9:00 should we meet somewhere for breakfast or coffee around 8:30 and carpool out as a group to Hodge from there at 8:45? Perhaps at the McDonald's at Roy Rogers and the 15 in Victorville?

Well, that does sound good. I've kinda changed plans as far as getting there. I plan on being at Hodge between 6:00-6:30am on Saturday, so I can get my flag setup with cleanup signs we made. So I guess we will meet you guys there, look for the "Don't Tread on me" Flag

Well guys, I talked to Cecilia over at BLM and she said they still don't have it in the budget to get us a dumpster at Hodge Road. She said early next year is when we would have a better chance. So looks like for this cleanup we are going to be on our own as far as getting rid of the trash we haul out. Ill get the information on the dump sites tonight or tomorrow. Im going to try my best for next time to get some sponsers that will pitch in to help us get this place cleaned up. Im still going to contact the County of solid waste and see if they can atleast give us a discount on the dump fees. So ill let everyone know by tomorrow night if can get that atleast.

Yea, there's really no one checking what ammo your using. Just make sure everything else is legal. Sometimes fish and game or CHP roll out there and check people's stuff.

How much money are they asking for dumpster fees? Have you considered starting a fundraiser on gofundme or a similar site? I'm sure somebody out there wouldn't mind donating to clean up the desert.

Also, is Hodge still officially open, or is it "closed" for the fire season?

For those lost or late: Look for a yellow Gadsden flag on the right just north of the exit.

Well, I would like to thank the members that came out and showed support and helped cleanup Hodge road. We had 5 trucks haul out trash, and made a nice dent in that area. There was a total of 10 memebers that came out including myself. Heres some pictures I wanted to share with you guys, I hope we can get a lot more people to show up next time. I had 700lbs of trash to the Victorville Landfill, cost me $25.00. Thanks again and I look forward to hosting the next Cleanup event.

Take the 15 to Hodge Rd Exit, turn North (away from the hills), and prepare to trip over the landfill. Can't miss it.

Thank you gsxr310, for just being 10 of us we cleaned a really good size area. And yes it does suck that we have to clean up after these slobs. I was just at hodge this past sunday and went to a different area and it was just as bad as it is closer to the 15 frwy.
