Default LGS Reviews

Let's help each other out. I have met a lot of new people who just moved here and don't know were to go.

Very Friendly but a bit over priced on there handguns and ammo. But willing to work with you on the prices for the handguns. Check prices before going.

I'm about 2.5 hours away up in Lemoore, visit inlaws every few months in Lancaster.
Might be able to coordinate visits with a shoot or other event.
Or, wife willing, make a special trip and skip the inlaws until dark.

There's High Desert Storm in Palmdale and the Gun Shop on Sierra Hwy in Lancaster. Ricks is just around the corner on Ave. I.

I avoid Santa Fe like the plague, the little prick behind the counter isn't worth anyone's time.

Raspy Rabbit is okay, didn't seem like they had much when I went there.

Yes Santa Fe Gun Shop is the worse gun shop I have ever been in my life. The Gun Shop is ok. There prices are high. Case in point Kahr p380 $795.00 vs $629.99 - Glock 17/19 $589.99 vs $499.99 to $519.99 Rick's Pawn is cheaper and better service plus around the corner.

Off of K

Just today I met two people and told them about Calguns. One was a person who was looking for there first gun and was being talked into a bad gun and deal. And another who just got his first gun and was looking for other shops and a good range to shot at. I have been here for 3 months now and met a lot of people who have been lied to and ripped off.

Santa Fe is garbage. Way overpriced. Sold my buddy, a new shooter, some supposedly original High Power mags for $90 a pop. I just can't believe this place is still open.

Been going to the gunstore for about 8 years, there's 3 of them I get along with there, prices are ok and I dont mind helping local stores if they're a good group of people. I mostly buy reloading equipment there. I live within walking distance too so that helps. You're more than welcome to shoot with us anytime

High Desert Sporting Arms.....

Not sure what there deal is. This place is a hit or miss. Got a price on Sig 229 only to have in change when I come in today to buy it. When I asked about the first price, I didn't really get a answer and then he starting talking on how bad it was and so on. So I ended up not getting anything and feeling like I wasted a trip. Funny thing is I was also going to buy a AK from them today but after this I am done with this LGS.

Ricks is a cool place to go. Bought my very first handgun there and they were super cool on explaining everything to me and even gave me a deal on the gun.

Bumping this post.

In the last couple of weeks I have ran into new gun owners and noticed how bad they have been getting ripped off by paying $840.00 OTD for a Glock 22 to bad Customer Service by LGS here in AV. Please post your reviews on here and prices you are getting.

Bought my son a youth Savage Arms Mark II at The Gun Store on Sierra hwy. Guys there were really friendly and super helpful. Knocked down the price for a box of ammo to go with it too. Went back a few days ago for some .223 ammo and seemed a bit on the high end. Good group of people nonetheless.

They can be but are over priced on almost everything. They have second highest on price on guns in the AV area.

Palmdale Pawn Shop has guns and ammo. Nice people.

410 East Palmdale Blvd.
Palmdale 93550
(661) 273-4111

I've bought several firearms there over the years.

I gotta say Triple A Sporting Goods in Vallejo is my favorite shop by far. Even after moving over an hour away I still drive down there when it's time to get a new gun. Great selection, great prices, and last time I was there they had a pretty good stock of 22.

This is the Antelope Valley chapter. Vallejo is 340 miles away from here.

The gun shop on sierra highway is an...interesting...store. Years and years ago, the whole top floor was stocked with parts for damn near any gun ever made, and the owner knew his clientele well. That owner sold and moved to Idaho. The store hasn't really been cleaned since the new owner took over, and the range is still a small/dark/narrow basement. They do have a good selection of used firearms and don't mark up ammo heavily. If you are looking for CCI 22lr or anything that might be scarce, you have to ask them if they have any behind the counter and they will limit sales to 2 boxes per person. Good luck if you don't look like one of the good ol' boys; if you are under 30 go with a father/uncle/father in law.

Raspy Rabbit is going out of business soon, which leaves...

Ricks Pawn if you are shopping for a used gun, or High Desert Sporting arms for general smithing and AR-15 parts. Both not bad, but slim pickings as time goes on.

Back in the day, we had three more gun shps in Palmdale.

Choate's Gun Shop, in the strip shops on Sierra Highway behind 7-11. Western Auto(?) on Sierra Highway just north of Choates. Lastly a hardware store on Palmdale Blvd. off of 20th Street East. Even the old Albertson's Market off Sierra Highway and Q9 used to sell ammo.

Old man Choate was an excellent gunsmith. He built me a target 257 Roberts on an old Mauser 98 action.

I mentioned Palmdale Pawn Shop earlier. They are owned by the same folks that own Rick's Pawn in Lancaster. They don't have as many guns as Rick's but often carry used stuff.

I don't go there too often, but I don't think I've ever seen a used gun for sale there. I think they do a great deal more volume in new guns. They seem to pretty constantly stock the most common handguns on the roster. Ditto for the popular long guns.

Hey all new member here. I just wanted to pipe in on this. I learned my lesson shopping at The Gun Shop on Sierra. Didn't shop around and ended up paying for it. When you see the same gun you bought for $100+ cheaper elsewhere it really stings. Last gun I'll ever purchase from there.

I've bought three from Ricks in the last year. Two I had to order and paid MSRP for. The last one I bought, I ended up walking out the door total for a little more than MSRP. Cant say enough good things about the guys there.

Yes very high on guns and they love to put first time gun owners and woman into the wrong gun.

Hello all! Chiming in on a review for us members. Read some of the responses and reviews for "The Gun Shop" on Sierra Hwy in AV area. Wow, i read the reviews on yelp and google but man, they sure live up to there name as "The Good Ol' Boyz" put the Z in there for emphasis! As in "Boyz in the Hood" haha. No, but all jokes aside. I was in the AV area last night with KrisDSA doing a PPT (Cool Guy, fyi). We met at the gun shop and they sure made us wait for a good hour. Jeff i believe which is the manager... idk but seemed like it. Told Kris and I he'd have to help the other customers walking in first before he could do our PPT which we were there about 45 minutes already waiting. There inventory was dated. The prices were so bad people walked in and walked out. No customer service for people standing around. Mind you this is my first time stepping into this building and i already got bad vibes. Long story short take your business elsewhere unless you have a buddy in that shop that takes care of you already. We took our business to Rick's. Man, they were so busy. We just made it in time to PPT before 5pm the cut off. Rick's has better customer service and support! They can order firearms for you as well. Next time im in the area im stopping by! Thanks KrisDSA for holding your part of the bargain up!

Don't take your wife with you when you pick up a firearm at Rick's!

Took my wife and while I'm over at the guns, she's over at the jewelry. Needless to say I ended up buying a ring also! Being a pawn shop they get all kinds of stuff, I've had to take her back to look at more jewelry.

At least I get to check out the guns, Ricks is a great place to empty your wallet!

Make sure to price check with other LGS before buying. Some LGS have raised there prices from $40 to $150 on handguns. Even the ones they already had in stock.
