Hi,
I just joined Calguns having target shot for a number of years and eager to continue my efforts to reload 45acp rounds. Please count me in, if the group starts meeting. Also eager to see if anyone near Dublin would be willing to assist me with my taper crimp die set up. Thanks, |

This thread is dead. No body from that originally offered to help has chimed in for months. If I recall correctly (not going to go back and read 6 pages) all invitations were to be done by PM.
There is no Eastbay Reloading Club! If there is, they're not sharing!

Years ago I was loading 9mm before it became popular. No one made a progressive press so I had to load one stage at a time. Missed a powder charge once. PITA at the range. I have a Dillon square deal b now.

Count me in if it's a reasonable drive from Fremont.
I'd obviously prefer to hear from someone more experienced than myself but I can definitely share what I learned if need be. I have a Lee LoadMaster and Breech Lock presses and reloads 9mm Luger and .40S&W |

Has anyone approached the Livermore Gun Club. They are a 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and part of their purpose is education. This seems consistent with their purpose. There are lots of reloaders at the rifle/pistol range as well as the shotgun range.
They currently let the Tri-valley Fisherman ( http://www.tri-valleyflyfishers.org/ ) meet at their club house. I don't know what they would charge, if anything. |

Hi all:
Not sure of what is happening with the official East bay club but the way the reloading chapters generally work is that several people just get off of their duffs and make it happen. You don't have to have an official location if one of those people are willing to give up their garage or driveway for an afternoon. You might want to contact Ivanimal and or Big Bronco for details about the club's status, resources available to help you. The Ventura County Chapter just had our smallest clinic we have ever held with only four students and it was still a blast, we had a great time and turned out three brand new reloaders and had one repeat student. You just need three or four people to put their hearts and minds into making it happen. Good luck and hope some people step up and make it happen.

Capybara,
Thanks for the insight. I've been wondering. I'm in Orinda and although willing to help out, I've only been reloading for just under 2 years. Very comfortable with pistol and proficient with rifle. From what I remember of the first few pages, Concord seemed to be a pretty central location for those interested. |

We met a couple times but have difficulty finding a location to meet where we can actually do hands on reloading. Just those couple meetings got me going and I'm still interested in Learning more. I'm also willing to share the little bit I've learned so far. Haven't blown up myself or my gun yet but there is still time.

I was told USI uses the SAME major insurance carrier as does almost every other gun club around... and they will not insure reloading activities, nor do they cover anything to do with handling LEAD (reclaiming it), asbestos, etc. I don't think it's they "don't want", it's rather "they've been told not to". |

From the NRA insurance application:http://www.locktonrisk.com/nrains/fo...pplication.pdf
Check all instructional courses that you provide: (Note: there is no professional coverage offered on any reloading instruction.) Many have posted in this thread "you can just get your own insurance". Not sure, as I am not an attorney. But when USI's insurance agent specifically asked, and here you see NRA does not offer it... this activity must be done somewhere else, and probably at your own risk. Perhaps your homeowner insurance may/may not cover? But I have not been able to find via google a company which offers this coverage. Gotta be to much risk for them? |

I'm in Hayward and am very much so willing to help people learn, I am not a certified instructor but after reading all the people wanting to learn, I felt compelled to reach out. I don't have much space at my place (just med shed I reload in) but would be happy to help people at their place or on a one on one basis at my house. I don't have a lot of free time as I am a Marine recruiter but am available Sunday afternoons. PM if interested

So this begs the question, what about home owners insurance? Does our home owners insurance cover accidents while reloading? Or, if there is an accident not related to reloading but the powder came into play, would we be covered?

Does anybody want to do a group buy for primers? I want to get 5k pistol primers but the hazmat off sets the discount for me. Maybe if 2-4 other people want to get 5k or more the hazmat and shipping cost around $2 per box.

re: the primers - you might want to start a new thread. I'm sure a lot of people haven't checked this thread in ages since everything fizzled out here.
Anyway, if somebody wants to reboot this it's easy enough to pick a pizza place, book the back room, and post some threads announcing it. If people show up and like each other start discussing next steps... |

Again, I'm in hayward, I load .40, .308, .22-250, .30-06, 7.5 swiss and 6.5 swede, I want to help someone learn. If you have a sunday, I have a sunday. Let me know and I'll give you my time. I just ordered a new press so I can run two at once for those who want to load on someone else's first. I'm just a pm away...

So I guess if any one is interested in starting a new chapter. Post up your location, if you are certified or not or have good knowledge to teach others and if you have space. Thinking about making it a members only thing that way membership fee's can help with cost of getting some certifications for instructors, equipment and components. So right now looking for a location to hold it at and instructors to teach. Was thinking also not limiting it to one location and possibly changing it up now and then.

Well most insurers require certified people to instruct... not off the street people.
Id like to identify people who are certified. Since you're in the SF Bay area are you certified??
