Sorry, but your friend is wrong.

Occasionally, we have a stage that may have some illegal elements. This is generally due to time constraints when building stages rather than an intentional disregard for the rules. In our most recent match, we had two stages that were technically not kosher, but this was because the match director was bogged down building three stages by himself because of a lack of volunteers for the match and didn't have time to mentor some newer stage designers on what is legal and what isn't (which plays into a personal peeve of mine...if you are going to ***** about our stages, please show me how the ones you've built were perfectly legal...oh, you've never actually come out and designed/built one yourself?...I see). I find that there's a direct correlation between "griping about stage/match design" and "never having ever lifted a finger to help out."

I'm one of the IDPA coordinators for the club, and I can personally tell you that we have a commitment to being as compliant as possible with the IDPA rules (as well as a long track record of putting on quality local and sanctioned matches).

In any case, the next nearest IDPA match is in Sacramento. United Sportsmen in Concord have been putting on matches, but all shooting at that club is on hiatus while they investigate bullets found in a church parking lot on the other side of the hill from the club. The Sacramento folks are good guys, but they get 100+ shooters at their matches. I haven't shot IDPA at USI, but their USPSA matches seem to be done well.

Don't get so defensive.

I have helped out plenty at East Coast events, I have put in my time. So you are an A5S for assuming.

My friend gave the impression that the competition was unprofessional on scoring and procedures. Not on range set up, but that could be a deal breaker as well.

I will go and see for myself, word of mouth is often unreliable. I will compare Sac with Concord. I know there is one somewhere around Durham as well, and I do visit that area frequently.

Sorry, man, but hard not to get defensive when we bust our butts to put on matches for shooters. Not like it's a paid gig.

I didn't assume anything. I stated a demonstrable fact. And while there was implied criticism, it was directed at the person who made the derogatory comments. That wasn't you.

Do please come out. I think you'll find that we do a good local match.

Hey all.

I used to hang out regularly in the 2A forum, only finally drifted here.

I'm in south San Jose, and east of San Jose. No, keep going, further, yes, past the Observatory.

I'm occasionally down at Metcalf for the NRA monthly. These days has usually been just been somewhere out in my back yard.

Hi everyone, I've lurked on the CalGun boards for quite some time but only recently registered as a user and made a post. There are many different "introduce yourself" threads amongst the various sub-forums but I figured I'd post in the Bay Area Chapter since the Bay is where I was born and raised.

I live in Berkeley (no, I'm not a hippie!) and mainly shoot at the Chabot Gun Club and San Leandro Rifle & Pistol Range. I look forward to interacting more with this community!

Hello there, been a member of Calguns for a little while as a lurker - used to shoot as a kid then took on other interests and recently have gotten back to it. Starting a little collection, lots of entry level stuff but fun. I live in North SJ.

.40 SP2022
.308 Savage Model 10
12 Ga Remington 870
.22 Ruger 10/22

Bought a couple 80% lowers and an easy jig from 80 percent arms on the recommendations of some threads I've viewed. Looking for some cheap parts to get started.

Hi everyone! I'm new here. I'm from Fremont and usually shoot at TargetMasters (during the day on weekdays, to avoid the reckless people). I would love to go shooting with you guys!

Hi all,

I am new to the area and Calguns. I know that CA will not recognize my hunters ed class I did back in NH. Can you recommend a good place in the South San Jose area (if possible) to take the required class.

Also, any suggestions on hunting in the greater SJ area would be appreciated.

I'm relatively new to calguns, but was a lurker in years past. I've lived in Sunnyvale a long time, and go to Sunnyvale Rod & Gun when I can, which is not as often as I like. I tend to favor my M1A, but recently got a Mini-14, which I also enjoy shooting.

With all the recent bills, and being inspired by others on calguns, I've become more active. I only wish I had been more active when we weren't so behind the 8-ball. I took too much of the 2A uninfringed part for granted, comin' from Texas. Beyond voting no on Sunnyvale's Measure C in 2013, I did nothing to help. I've been involved in the VetoGunmageddon efforts as well as working with several others on here in active pursuit of tryin' to get Rep. Mike Honda to own up to his constituency. The latter one affects us all nationally. It's tough with a family and the work schedule, but I'm tryin' to make time where I can to do these things.

For those new (like myself) that joined and want to help out:

Veto (w/link to the main state-wide effort as well): http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s....php?t=1227472
Honda event (not specifically under the Bay Area section): http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...1221820&page=2 (there's some audio from the event I put onto YouTube if interested).

Best thing you can do is vote in November and convince non-firearms-owners that we're not a bunch of heartless criminals. Get them to vote down Newsom, and hopefully if we get enough signatures, vote Yes on the Veto referendum.

Fairly similar situation as you. Lurked for a long time, left the state for 4 years and came back to a ton of new crazy. Signed the veto along with all my friends, and finally made an account here. Keeping fingers crossed, a lot of good people here.

I purchased a pistol two weeks ago at Bullseye's going out of business sale. (They still have a shop in Nevada.) They said to call to schedule pickup but both yesterday and today I've called but nobody picks up.

1) Does anyone have an alternate contact number for them?
2) Does anyone live close enough to go by and see if anyone is there and/or if there is a better contact number on the door for those of us that still need to pick up firearms?

CA honors licenses from other states. Check the fish and game website to confirm.

Pretty much brand new shooter from Pacifica here. I'm down to help out when I have time. I can build damn near anything out of metal or wood as long as there's no welding. I just started shooting, my wife has been shooting since she was 2 but I'm originally from a very anti gun area. Which is hilarious considering how much I've learned recently about the history of guns in Belgium. I've got just under a thousand rounds under my belt with my wife's S&W SD40VE and it's a blast. Pun totally intended. I'm a bit (a lot) of an introvert so I probably won't come to the big meetings but I'm always down to help build a range or something in exchange for pizza/ammo.

Last but not least, as my starting gun for sharp shooting I'm considering the Savage 308 win 10frp bolt action. I'll take any advice other than "It's ****." Tell my WHY it's **** (or great) please. I've got a steep learning curve ahead and I need actual opinions. :-P

Heyo, new member here from San Leandro. The extent of my experience is my limited range time with my cousins from San Diego. I've been looking around for range time with rentals before I can commit to owning but I'm probably going to purchase my first by the time 2017 is done. (Yes, I realize it's an entire year haha)

"Target Masters" in Milipitas and "Reeds" in Santa Clara are the only ranges around the area I'm aware of that rent.

I'm in Campbell...been on Calguns on and off over the past few years. On a lot more recently with all the bs laws, trying to keep up and figure out how to stay out of jail.

Any chance there's a consolidated calendar of events posted on the web somewhere?

Are there any 3-gun matches left in the Bay Area?

None that Im aware of. Only 3gun I recall would be near Vacaville or Sacramento. If you want to meet other cgners SonofWWII hosts monthly at Reeds Indoor range and sometimes arranges outdoor shoot.

I traded with a experienced practical shooter at Fremond.
I was told they practice at a richmond range, but from time to time they compete in other states like FL. I think you can get in to the sport by taking a class first and meeting people there.

Richmond has an Intro to Multi-Gun once a month, and they offer a multi-gun practice once a month. Visit richmondhotshots.com and check the calendar for schedules.

Hey y'all. Relatively new to SF from a free state. I've read around these forums for a while and registered a year or so ago but haven't been active yet.

I recently picked up a Frankenstein AR before the deadline. Also brought a Gen4 G19 in OD with me when I moved here. Looking for a good place to shoot.

I've been to San Means to a few times but they recently changed their rules such that rifles must use soft point or hollow point ammo.

Anyone know some good places to shoot or buy cheap ammo round here?
