Hi, I'm Ed, I'm fairly new to calguns and I've been putting my collection back together again, also got my wife into shooting just this year and she has already bought two pistols! We shoot at Bullseye San Rafael a lot, and will go check out Richmond Rod and Gun Club soon. We shoot: Colt 1911 (USMC), ruger Mark III, and Sig P232 and P226 (MK25), looking to buy some rifles next, probably a 10/22 and a .308

Hello all, my name is Anthony. Just recently moved to Oakley, and I shoot at united sportsmen's in Concord. I grew up in Antioch and spent the last nine years bouncing between Turlock /Modesto. Any local resources for AK building? Or anyone that has tools for sale or rent?

Aloha all,
Hawaii transplant in East Bay going on 3 years and a born again gun enthusiast. Got rid of all my guns almost 30 years ago with the exception of a 6" .357 Colt Trooper MK III that's been greased up and locked away since then. Recently regained interest and looking forward to learning how to shoot all over again. Wife and I have been shooting pistol and rifle primarily at Chabot but not as frequently as I would like. Looking forward to being part of the community.

Hey guys. Got back into shooting again recently. Been lurking around the forum reading. Thought i should introduce myself. Im in Milpitas. Not a member of any club. Have been to Target Masters and Reeds for shooting over the years. Plan on checking out the range in San Leandro sometime soon. I have a 14 yr old Glock 19, Walther Tph 22 given to me by a relative and a newly purchased S&W M&P 15-22.

Hello everyone,

Originally from upstate ny and moved to San francisco a little over a year ago. Mostly shot shotguns as it's the only thing you could hunt with there, so I'm new to rifles. Picked up a model 70 as the starter of my collection and we'll see where it goes from there.

Hi all,
I'm new to the forum, relatively new to guns as well. I just got my first rifle and looking to buy a shorty and some handguns soon. I'm located in 650. I've been going either to reeds , jackson arms, or Sunnyvale rod and gun. Hope I can meet some folks to go shooting with, I don't know anyone IRL

Been a while to the forum but first time signing in. The whole family usually goes to Chabot, Target Masters or Livermore. We shop at TRAP, Solar or Digital Instincts. We all have different likes so we have different types of toys. Hope to learn more here.

Name is Zeke. Just moved to the bay from chico for a new job. Been shooting since I was 14, I reload, and have done a couple 80% ar's. Been around the forum for years. Good to hear that there are so many gun nuts in the bay.

Hey there, my name is Ben.

I've been living in the Bay for around 2 years now, from Minnesota originally.
Left most of the weapons at home when I moved out here, plenty were not Cal legal, and I don't have great security where I'm living in Oakland.

Looking to get back into shooting, miss it too much. Ideally going to be building up a bolt weapon to do some range work with. Most of my experience is with AR platform stuff.

Wondering what the situation is with gun storage in the Bay Area. Do clubs offer weapon lockers here? I'd prefer to keep my weapon not at home, due to roomates. I'd love to find a range with 200-400 yards if possible, and a place to keep the rifle.

Did a search but didn't find much, let me know if you folks have any advice.

Thanks very much.

Greetings,

I'm not new to guns - but I'm new to the area. We moved last summer and after an impromptu remodel - I'm finally getting settled in. So far I've only been to the Sunnyvale Rod & Gun Club and Reed's Indoor Range - but I'm looking forward to checking out some more ranges this summer.

Hello everyone, I grew up shooting my father's Springfield 84 and Browning SA-22 over at Chabot, and just got back into target shooting on my own with a buck mark and a 10/22. I've been reading up on IDPA and USPSA competitions so if you guys have any tips or comments about the best places around the East Bay to learn, I'd love to talk. Thanks!

I'm one of the IDPA club contacts at Richmond, so feel free to contact me if you have questions about the sport. I would encourage you to take a class like Richmond's New Competitor Class to familiarize you with the sport. This or something similar from another club are required before shooting a competition at Richmond.

Sounds great. I'll probably circle back around and check out Richmond Hotshots once I have a pistol that's suitable for steel targets (and I'm comfortable/familiar with using it).

I should have stopped in and introduced myself a couple of years ago, better late than never. I'm an East Bay lifer born and bred in Castro Valley, now in San Ramon. I'm a member of the Livermore gun club but grew up shooting at Chabot.

I'm semi-retired so I shoot at least once a week. If you have time for a weekday shoot, PM me.

BTW, are there any chapter meetings?

Hello Bay Area people. I just moved to the peninsula, but I have been on CalGuns for a while.

2 things you locals can help with:

Where is the nearest genuine IDPA match held?

Is there a place to trade guns/parts/accessories locally? Or a local Facebook page that for trading guns?

Thanks.

Calguns really is the best venue, but there is also this group on Facebook (although it isn't particularly active):

Thank you Sir...

A close friend of mine went to the Richmond Rod and Gun Club IDPA, he said it was not legit, and that they did not follow IDPA procedures correctly. I may go check them out and take their intro corse if there are no other local places. Are there any other locations?

They have a active page for 530 that I sold a couple rifles through. It's too bad there is nothing like that around here.
