Amazing that much trash can accumulate since I was there at last cleanup.

We need drones circling with authority to shoot tranquilizer darts

Guys and Gals, Thank you for helping us with another successful clean-up. I visited the MarBorg FB page and see many of you have already posted Thank You's, we appreciate you taking the time and I know they will get a kick out of it. Capy, I'll go ahead and post these pictures on our The Glass Factory FB page, thanks for taking the time to take them. I brought a camera and forgot to take pictures! See you all soon. Joe

If you want to lose a strong-ish back the next clean up I can shoot pictures as well. I run a surf and travel photography company aside from the 9-5.

Hi Gtturborex:

Yes, two dumpsters as Tactical said, we estimate about 14-16 tons. We spent a lot more time picking up shell casings and shotgun hulls this time. The lower range was spotless when we left yesterday, the big pile is gone. Range looks really clean although Sosoomi said some jerks already left a TV and some other junk on the main line but that is par for the course. Combustible fuel level was 59% percent, Larry says they shut it down at 60% so we are basically done for the year. Have some interesting stuff we can discuss off line about our steel target drive.

We had a great time, we missed you being there but it went off really well. Great volunteers as usual, Marborg drivers were cool as heck, Larry is a great guy, it was a more mellow, laid back vibe than the army operation we had to have in January. We are making a difference up there, going from 40 tons to 16 tons is encouraging. And figure 3-4 tons was that big pile that was left over from January.

Tactical, would love to have your girlfriend take on photo duties, or Doug, it is not effective for me to try to be a good photographer up there while trying to run the event with our team. Need someone whose only job is to document the cleanup, get some posed pics, smiles, show the fun, the drawing, etc. All I am doing is snapping some candids of the work, a good event photographer will have the time to create more effective images, low angle, fisheye, posed smiles, etc. I just don't have the time to do it, Red Monkey, Socalmountainman and I end up directing traffic, parking, sign in, when to start lunch, setup, breakdown, barbeque, drawing. I am also going to put out the word to get a good event videographer as well, it would be nice to shoot some interviews with the volunteers, the Calguns team, Forest Service, etc. If we had quality news coverage, we could probably get the story onto the air on the Central Coast (KEYT, etc.)

Vick, your merchandise you donated was a BIG hit, thank you so much for supporting our event! Quality stuff that everyone was wanting with cool Calguns logos, the camo hats especially. We couldn't make it happen without you.

This sums it up right here! Thanks to everyone who went out. Sorry I couldn't make it this weekend but it sounds like you all did a great job.

Thanks to Marborg and all our generous donators!

For those interested, there is nothing yet on the Forest Service website, but I agree it's very dry.

I know for a fact that 50'-100'ft past the firing line is nothing but very dry grass and brush. Very little green vegetation.

Shooting area will be closed as of tomorrow officially. Larry from the rangers office gave me a call a few minutes ago to let me know they are closing due to fire season.

Thanks for the update. Hopefully it won't be too trashed by the next clean up.

Remember everyone, just because we are closed for the season doesn't mean our team is going dormant. We want to have our steel targets installed by the time the Forest Service opens us back up in November or December and we may want to have a Fall cleanup, depending on how thrashed the idiots leave the place, even though the gate will be locked.

We should use our down time to strategize what we will do next season to make the Glass Factory safer, cleaner and more enjoyable to use for everyone. Let's use our down time to regroup and make next years shooting season there even better.

Capy really is striking the nail on the head with that statement. Season closure due to fire risk is an excellent time to "re-educate" lets not waste it!

So that's disappointing but nothing like what follows:

How's that feel?

Now the good stuff.....

On one of the fridges there was a tag.... I took the tag and when I got home I googled that name and called it..... The fellow I talked to said, yes, we dropped them there... We were told it was ok....

I told him I would make a deal with him.... If they picked up all the stuff and took it away immediately I wouldn't 'out' them publically....but if they didn't I would name names and send the info to the Rangers!

He said he would.... He sounded sincere but we will see....

Wow. That just leaves me filled with words I cannot even begin to post.

Please, hold on to that tag, I am sure Ranger Larry would be very interested in seeing that.

If it were me, I would give it to the authorities, because that guy is too stupid to deserve a second chance and he will only do it again... but a $5,000+ fine will send a clear message.

No, I would not bother. Instead, I would contact Ranger Larry, give him the information you uncovered and then e-mail him the pictures.

Sorry, but I did not bust my $$$ and wake up at 5am on the 11th for some tool to bring fridges and furniture at targets. I'm sure I can speak for everyone else who took part in the clean-up that day. It's a shooting range, not a damn trash dump.

If this cretin is dumb enough to haul that crap up to the range, dump it, shoot at it and leave it, along with information that can be traced back to him, he deserves absolutely no sympathy, no second chances, nothing. He deserves to be punished to the full extent of the law because that garbage is not only stupid, but illegal.

Side note; Where are the CalGuns cleanup signs? RedMonkey put two of them on the board where that yellow fire restriction sign is. Are they behind it? Were they removed by the Ranger? Were they just torn off by some idiot?

Well I can say I had the same thoughts on my way home, however, after talking to the individual, actually he represents a facility doing good work I think, he struck me as truly forthright in his error.... I mean he outright admitted he dumped it there... Believed it was ok to do so and upon my assertion it was not ok..... Immediately said he would resolve the issue.... And was most apologetic....

It was my feeling that it is better to recruit than destroy until proven wrong...

If it isn't removed by the end of the weekend then y'all can have at it!

edit: If that <party> was so remiss - why the **** did they not haul it out? Nope. **** them. If we do not get hardlined this place is going to close

Fast.

That has to be one of the biggest loads of [explicit] I've ever heard.

We need people to stop treating the Glass Factory as a trash dump. Period and end of discussion.

How do we do that? We do it with education and clean-up's. The clean-up was a success, but education is lacking... We need to set an example. If the Ranger continues to take a zero tolerance policy and issue fines, it will get the message out there loud n' clear.

You have a chance to help the cause. You have all the evidence you need. You have admission of guilt. You have physical evidence. You have pictures.

I'm hoping Capy will see this and agree. I'm hoping Capy or someone else who has a relationship with Ranger Larry will take the appropriate steps.

Actions cannot go unpunished. I'm sick of this sentiment, it's ruining this country.

Excuse me? I'll give you sometime to think about that....

You are doing a lot of talking but not accomplishing much of anything but alienating people, me in particular...

You talk big about education but again, not doing much... I believe I have a shot at reaching a few people and that's what I am going to do.... You can run your outfit the way you please.... I'll do it my way!

Yep I'm with Sosoomi on this one. I might not have been able to make this last clean up for personal reasons but after the January one which both Sosoomi and my self attended we spent the next three months "educating" people at the range damn near every weekend.

Tac I don't personally don't know who you are or if we have met but I do know most of the regular shooters up there. Between Caluke, SocalMountain Man, Sosoomi, Dakine, Capy and myself. We have all been trying to educate people every weekend.

SO STEP THE F$#K OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sosoomi spoke to the guy lets see if the dude grabs his stuff if not let him burn in purgatory with a hefty fine. Stop throw accusations at peoples character on this board. We are all trying to do the right thing.

And what have you done lately to improve the situation at the GF... I'll tell you what...nothing...other than talk stupid!

Just a note to all the negative comments directed at my actions...if you really think a bunch of blustering about what 'you' would do impresses anyone, especially me.... You are so wrong!

Spouting off on a forum from behind your keyboard is the biggest cop out of all.... Doing nothing except talking is what is wrong with this country followed up by contributing to the Nanniefication of America... Rather than calling the cops... Telling Larry the Ranger...blah..blah...blah...why don't you get off your behind...drive up here and do something on your own!

Sosoomi,

I support your approach and hope that if it have been me, I would have had the same level headed, wise approach as you have.

This individual got busted by his own stupidity. Sosoomi offered him the chance to make it right, by doing so, he/we may have made a friend that can help spread the word of what the new reality at the Glass Factory is. IF this person CHOOSES not to follow thru and make it right, then I will take some steps to make him an example; this has already been set into motion.

Sosoomi, PM inbound.
