They might have been although Michelle got some really good pictures, too. I will get them off her phone to photo bucket and post some more. Where did you end up taking the cardboard?

Thanks again for everyone's help. Let's do it again after new years!

I don't know if the pictures will do the job justice. I was very impressed with the change, and I didn't even get there till 9:00, so I didn't get to see what it looked like before you started. I was quite impressed with the results I did see though.
I don't think the pictures will show the shells, cases, wads, pieces of clay pigeons, and just random shot up debris covering every square inch of ground.
Ya just had to be there.

Ok guys thanks. I got worried they might be charging and I was going to kick you guys some cash to offset that. I wouldn't feel right if you guys were hit with unexpected charges.

Awesome thanks for everyone throwing their hat in to help.

The next project out there is going to require some trucks. We talked about taking the thousands of tires out there and creating a berm along the far end road. That will allow for a safe backstop. It will allow for us to recycle the tires that we can't find a way to dispose of. We will need guys with trucks (I have one) to help out with moving the tires to where they go and then those without trucks can help move and stack to create the berm.

Tagged for future updates.

I shoot there during the week, and can help pretty much anytime
if my schedule works out to do so.

I am new to owning fire arms and I stumbled upon this topic about our local shooting site. You guy did a great job with the cleanup, when I start using this site I will make sure I do my part in keeping area clean, hope to meet some of you in the near future!

Thanks! If you've got a pickup, please take a rake, shovel and some bags to pack out extra trash. I packed out a load with me on Sunday. I'll be there again this weekend shooting my new AR.

Just signed up today bako88fan!

Awesome, awesome work!

Count me in for any future work. Was out there just two days ago and it is disgusting.

I thought seriously about putting up a sign that states, take home what you brought out on the bridge.

I am astonished how unsafe shooters can be out there shooting into multiple directions. Shooting towards the aqueduct even. There are literally a dozen vehicles a day, week and weekend driving that road on the aqueduct down range less than a 1/4 mile. WAY UNSAFE.

With all the ditch banks, and mounds there is no reason to shoot high caliber into the aqueduct.

I walked to that new building and it had 3 bullets stuck into the cinder blocks already!

I have a bit of knowledge about the property owners. The state agencies do KNOW about it and are at this point letting it slide, I'm sure the oil company cares, but have no interest in the property so there is no one paying attention to it. {granted the oil property issue is only a guess of mine}.

I was shocked to see how bad the site is, 5 years ago it was clean. I have seen F&G stalk that site, initially trying to bust people. One told me without trespassing signs, without improvement, they cant do anything. Which leads me to believe they have given up.

Count me in next trip out! And I have a Kyle Busch hat I'll give ya, get ya used to being with a winner again! LOL

hey, nice work. I am from san diego and always pack out more than what I bring in. What are your thoughts on creating a sign that says pick up your casings and trash or the place will be shut down? Sadly, I feel there are lots of childish adults who would simply shoot the sign and continue littering. Thankfully, our ranger down here Mr. Funk hands out hefty fines to straight asshats and gives verbal warnings to those the first time around allowing them to clean up while gaining an earful of information.

Thanks, Mike. I'm glad to see you feel as I do. It's disgusting how people treat our land. I am trying to finalize a date and spread the word. I should know by next week when I'm available. Then hopefully we can coordinate with everyone's schedule.
As for the 18, that hat would make a great TARGET on my next range trip! ;-)

Hi Alpha. I contemplated the sign and thought the same thing. The idiots out there will some shoot at it. They often shoot directly from the road. In fact, I've seen so much unsafe shooting out there that I often wear a hi viz safety vest so that people pay attention and don't fire our direction.

the "new" thing I have encountered out there
is people driving out to fish on the aqueduct
directly south of Al Qaeda bridge.

I have been out shooting, and they drove out
there and set up fishing without paying any attention
to me.

I have talked to them, and let them know its not the
most safe fishing spot on the aqueduct, and now they
fish closer to Tupman road

I still feel shooting towards the aqueduct is unsafe regardless of fisherman or not.

Aqueduct empolyees routinely travel that span you talk of, multiple times a day.

Fisherman present or not, the fact that duct employees access that should make it off limits making the duct down range.

All this is going to change shortly anyhow when the Hydrogen plant gets its construction phase started. Tupman range is destined to be shut down anyway, regardless of trash or not

Right at the site! The owner of the palm trees sold the land for that big Hydrogen plant.

That new building at the duct and subsequent pipeline put in this summer is for water service for the plant.

Default URGENT FOR Bakersfield area shooters - Tupman Shoot/Range CleanUp

Ok so I have yet to get to the shooting site so my knowledge on the exact location and history of the area is not perfect but after studying the BLM area map I saw this new area of land that might be a possible new location but any help for this area is welcome.

Link to maps...http://www.blm.gov/pgdata/etc/medial...7636.File.dat/

I have seen that spot, I did not research it first hand simply because of proximity to elk hills. I also think every road leading into it is locked

Your pictures are very blurry.

I could be wrong, but I really have fears the proximity to elk hills and OXY just to the west of there only a few miles would be an issue.

Wish some Oil field buds could chime in on that land.

My first reaction is that I would hate for the A holes to ruin two pieces of land with trash and debris.

The land just west is the Naval reserve, but still need to be diligent. I go here and shoot clays and rimfire a lot. There is a canal where I will shoot pistol sometimes. I always leave with more than I went in with. It's amazing what a-holes will leave laying around.

Default URGENT FOR Bakersfield area shooters - Tupman Shoot/Range CleanUp

Well I went to the site today, there was one other group there... I can't believe how much trash and tires are out there, we defiantly need to get that place cleaned up. A little at a time is better than nothing, keep it up all. Got to shoot my new 1911 and ar15 along with brother n laws inventory. Defiantly goin to plan another trip out there soon... If I can convince the wife to let me go again tomorrow I'll probably go again about 1300-1600

Because of my schedule, I won't be able to organize anything till mid Feb.

Gotta be honest, I took my son out shooting In Tupman on Christmas day and it looks like we never cleaned. There's so many irresponsible shooters out there that it's pretty discouraging.

I've said it before, I can't imagine what some of these shooters homes look like.

I agree with above.

I cannot believe at the simplest decency of not even picking
up their empty ammo boxes they throw out all over as well.
Just that simple thing will help alot.

And then now, all the glass people are shooting out there is
ridiculous! Its one thing if people where shooting it down range
(not that its really better) but they are shooting in the areas
were you drive thru.

amazing

yep Reichert, it appears from your pics you guys are shooting
right at the area by the bridge you cross over.

If you turn right once over the bridge and drive towards
the big mound of dirt, you will find the glass debri field, or rather
should "avoid" the glass debri field.

Down towards the dirt pile, there is another access road
down thru the ditch that you can drive thru with a truck.

People have set up bottles at the top of this access road
and shot them there as well I mean come, have
some sense

I was out there shooting over the last couple of weekends and it was a mess.

At least 2 dozen trires and at least a few cubic yards worth of waste. I'm down for cleaning up the place and have a truck for clean up. But it would take a whole heck of a lot more than that to clean the place up.

I have noticed the last time I was there at least a dozen groups of people out there shooting the place up.

With the weather the way it is now would be a good time to get a few calguns members out there to clean up the place before the heat sets in for the summer
