Thumbs up OLL's for folks north of Sacramento...

I just want to confirm that Bob Snelling, (916.833.9771), is a stand up guy who returns phone calls quite quickly. For those of us who live north of Sacto, he is the only OLL friendly guy I can find.
FTR: He quoted me $50 total transfer, and $ 125 for Stag lowers at the moment.
Caveat: He said his prices are dependent on his supplier so that price is subject to change. (of course)
His store is open Monday and Thursday from 10:00-14:00, but call ahead. He is willing to do a Sat. or Sun. if it is worth his time. (read: $$)
He will do special orders. His normal, in-stock lower is the Stag.
He also keeps Stag LPK's on hand and Ambi selectors.

I am having a much happier day today!

+1 for Bob Snelling in Sacramento. OLL-friendly as could be and a great guy to do business with.

+1 for Jon Dinberg in Ridgecrest. No OLL's but he's also a great guy to do business with. Jon stocks ammo and reloading supplies at very fair prices.

anyone know of any good shops in or around the Torrance area that sell OLL's? I know of Suchar Enterprises, but I heard it's run out of a garage? Thanks in advance!

Well, I figured I might as well jump in on this thread

DROS: $30.00. NO EXTRA CHARGE FOR ADDITIONAL LONGGUNS (same day and time). This is a big plus for all you guys wanting to DROS multiple longguns at one time.

Additional handgun fees (on same day at same time). Note: qualified purchases only, i.e. C&R Collector with Certificate of Eligibility, Law Enforcement, and Private Party transfers, etc - $21.00

Private party firearm transfers: $35.00

Out of State/long distance shipping (basically, any firearm shipped to us for pickup & DROS by buyer): $30.00 + $30.00 DROS.

HSC card and test: $25.00

HSC study guide: $0.50

I wanted to say Pennington Firearms in Wildomar is excellent. I like their personal touch and prices. Brightspot Pawn is my second favorite only because the drive over there is a nightmare.

Imbert & Smithers, (650) 593-4207, San Carlos 94070, $50 + DROS. No OLLs. Might complain if you want to do a transfer for something they're selling, especially if they have it in stock.
In general very nice to deal with though.

Santa Barbara CA FFLs:

Goleta Valley Gun & Supply (805) 683-1867
Used to do OLLs, won't do them anymore because the DOJ has hassled them.
PPT - $36

Far West Gun Shop (805) 569-2922
Won't touch OLLs, get pissy if you bring them up. Seen Carbon 15s in their shop though.
PPT - $37
$100 + DROS + Registration (? I asked them if they meant long arms, and they repeated what they said).

Paul Schaffer (805) 687-1730
Will handle OLLs
PPT - $35
$60 + DROS, another $60 for each additional long gun ()

Can't believe Jim Maddux and Mad-Ox Firearms isn't listed yet. I guess it may be since the info is easily accessible to us?

Anyhow, here it is from his website:

In-State/Out-of-State: $25 DROS Fee + $40 Dealer Fee

* Each Additional Firearm on same DROS is an additional $20.

Does OLLs of course .

I just spoke with Brian at Brightspot. It is $50 (that includes DROS) for the first rifle and 20 for each additional.

Tabor's charged me $50.00 for a PPT on a shotgun. I brought a printout of the DOJ page when I went to pick it up and they wouldn't budge, said their lawyer said it was ok to charge a service charge on PPT's.

Did anyone dealt with pawn shops? Is it a good or bad thing dealing with pawn shops when transfering stripped receivers?

Elliot Sulter Pawn Shop does FFL transfer for $20 + $25 DROS (no tax from what I heard?) inn West Hollywood. Any experience?

I wonder if it's worth the drive from Hawthorne to West Hollywood when Suchar Enterprise charges $60 (DROS, Dealer Fee) + tax.

I just gave the guy a call. It seems he doesn't do business with customer wanting to transfer AR-15s or the stripped lowers with the exception of small firearms.

so does Tax just vary between dealers or what?? Ive heard some charge it, some don't. I don't see it any different than buying anything else online out of state, they shouldn't tax you, the DROS fee is tax enough. I think that might be a category added to the list tax or no tax. Depending on what your buying that is more significant than a $25 fee rather than $50.

Hi im new to calguns but im not new to firearms.

Does anybody here know if the FFL dealer "Get a Gun" in Bakersfield is legit? Im new in the Kern County area and want to find a dealer that is willing to do gun transfers and stumbled upon this guy. The deal seems too good to be true and IDK if this guy is 5-0?

Hey oildale_redneck,

"Get a Gun" (Rafa) sounds like a legit FFL even though i havent completed a transaction with the guy. Im building up my gun fund to purchase a Saiga right now and when im done, i'll try getting in touch with him.
