New to the forum. Was referred here from the Colt forum. Have lurked on this site for quite some time. Retired and nearing 80 now. Grew up shooting and hunting. For the past 30+ years my wife and I have been active shooters. Her "go to" is always a 1911-her preference is her Gold Cup Commander-she has a pair. I shoot 1911's as well but am a big fan of 1st gen single actions. Considering slimming down my collection as well(mainly Colts and a few Winchesters). I enjoy this site-lots of great information.

Hi everyone
New member from Crescent city. A friend of mine suggested I come here. He's an avid hunter and recently purchased a shotgun here. I was cleaning the garage and I found one of my rifles which I inherited from my Dad, a Springfield M1 Garand. Sadly, there is no one for me to pass it on to, so I'd asked my friend how to go about this. He suggested this forum. A web search shows this model being worth something between $900 and $1500. It's a 1945, never been modified, but I maintained it and cased it since we've been in CA. So, I need some guidance on how to go about it. I don’t want to violate any rules here. Thank you
