People on this forum run out of ammo? I've never heard of such a thing

What range was that (distance, not where you were shooting)?

Default Ammo...

That was at 50 yds on the first day sighting it in with open sights. I ran out of ammo because I am waiting for my shipment of ammo from an internet order, It kills me to pay $7.50 a box (20) at my local GS.

The second day I just ponied up the $23 (3 boxes) and sighted it in with the scope. I still had fun either way. It was raining the second day and friggin' freezing so the longer range stuff is gonna happen later. But for me, it's all about having fun.

Not quite to the letter, but that XM-177 from Model 1 is what I'm thinking about as well! I really like that long flash suppressor with the holes, looks quite Tacticool.

Questions though...

1. How's the fit & finish from Model1?
2. You have a fixed stock, will the collapsable stock not meet the 30" length requirement?
2. Have you fired it yet, and with that short barrel is it moderately accurate out to 100, 200, and 300 yards?
3. What was their turn-around time to ship you the kit?

Thanks!
John

Thumbs up Model 1 Sales

I had a great experience with Model 1 Sales. There ship time was about a week maybe less? good deal and the gun shoots great. (although is not the XM-177 your looking at) mine is a A3 with a couple extra goodies. The finish is nice also.

I am looking at the XM-177 as well due to its "tacticoolness" for my second build.

I guess I better hurry up and get my order in since now everyone is jumping on the Model 1 XM177 bandwagon

Hmmm... come to think of it, that would be a pretty fun bandwagon though. We could all ride around and shoot from the wagon, wouldn't that be pretty neat?

Guys that have ordered before, about how long did it take to receive your order from Model 1?

Nice. I love the laser... Do you have it dialed in? Who makes it? What did it set you back?

Like the M1A too. My Dad recently bought a SOCOM 16. I got him to slap on an Aimpoint Comp C and a Harris bipod.

Appears to be the same Magazine that was in my fixed mag Vulcan lowers by the looks of it. But my Vulcans don't have Safe/Fire markings on the right side of the lower.....

Good question.... (seems to me that the magazine is not fixed.... hence, even with the fixed-stock, without the flash-hider.... there is *still* 1 "evil" feature too much on that rifle...)

Or.... maybe primer doesn't live in CA(PRK)!!!!

it's one thing for you to manufacture an AW in privacy, it's another to blatantly post pictures of it on a public forum that the DOJ routinely frequents. talk about incriminating yourself...guess who gets the bonehead of the year award.

what's worse is that everyone that purchases these off-list lowers represents the whole of us in some way or another. you creating an assault weapon looks poorly on all of us. and, yes...you now are a felon. i think i'd rather kiss my sister.

Hey Primer510, since that rifle doesn't have a flash hider or telescopic/folding stock you should make a grip substitute so you can also run a detachable mag version.

Both of my off-list rifles have threaded barrels so I can replace the hider with a brake and pull off the pistol grip when I want to shoot them in a match.

Yeah, it blows to have to go gripless, but it's not as bad as it seems.

I totally agree with you, honestly, what personal info did you give this message board that the Feds are going to track you down with? Oh, your email? First they have to get a court order, then give it to Calguns, and then Calguns would have to comply to giving up that info (chances are that would end up in a court battle if Calguns has any balls, which they probably do), which if anyone who has registed will remember is nothing except for an email. Then, say they do get the court order because so and so does not have a fixed mag or something like that (like they are going to waste their time on that one) and Calguns does not put up a fight and just hands over the email address. THEN they have to go and get another court order for your ISP, who does have your real personal info (unless your a hotmail account or something like, where you did not have to give real info). And then your ISP will have to cough up the info (has anyone read today's LA Times about Google and the US GVT)?

Who can tell us the last time (or first time) they heard a story about one guy getting tracked down, court order after court order due to a firearm?

You always need to be careful in life, but please, some people are way to paranoid here. On the other hand, no reason to wave your come and get me flag.

Just one person's humble opinion.

hiyabrad,

Actually to answer your last question... recently if I recall correctly. Some kid on MySpace was posing with various firearms and his local police department was issued a warrant for his residence.

Furthermore it would not be the e-mail address, but rather the IP address of the poster which we log on every post.

I guess... some of us just want to point out what is OK, and what is NOT OK....

Bill and a couple of other good guys put in a LOT of effort in posting the detailed FAQ, and listing out what is OK and what is NOT.... it would suck if some newbie look at this cool "show me your rifles" thread... and build JUST in that very same configuration... and bring that to some public range.... sure that is plain stupid... yet...

***Cough*** Patriot Act***Cough*** They don't need court orders any more my friend...

I think I'm one of those paranoid type of guys but don't you belive that just because this is the internet you are protected by anonymity. If you have the time to read the 73 pages of this thread: http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=399203 You can learn how regular folks can track someone over the Internet. That thread gives you a very good idea how the Internet anonymity is a thing of the past! YMMV
