I finally picked up the last member to the family tonight... the STAG-15.
Depending on how business is this week, I may be able to squeeze out a final $204 out of the piggy bank and add a fourth and final member to the family, but I am going to try to contain myself before I really have to start buying medicine to limit the BRD symptoms. Until then, it will just be my two Ameetec WM-15 LE/Govt Only lowers and the STAG-15: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Jicko,
Why did you buy the 552 model instead of the 551? I think it would have been better to go with the 551 since it gives you more room to put a BUIS... Last edited by Pablo; 02-14-2006 at 1:24 PM.. |

Pablo (RE:why 552):
Reasons for 552 are 1) I've got a GREAT deal @ the Del Mar show, $299, brand new unit! 2) I want AA rather than N battery Elmo (RE:BUIS): I do.... and I am look for a 1/3 co-witness setup... right now the front sight is annoying.... ![]() I want to get the ARMS#40 regular BUIS, and I'm looking into getting the YHM-220 EOTech Riser ($39), I hope this will give me a raised EOTech, and a 1/3 co-witnessing setup. ![]() And I am also trying to get a YHM 4Rail Lightweight carbine HG, and with that, I can mount the EOTech even further forward... I have all the parts for my MK12 Mod 1 themed rifle project. I put the upper on a registered Colt Sporter for load testing this weekend.
![]() I would have tested last weekend, but I didn't feel like loading all my gear into the car to go to the range with the off and on rain. Plus, I doubt the chronograph would have given ideal data with the cloud cover. Anyway, I have tons of pics here -> http://www.ocabj.net/gallery/mk12mod1 Note the GSE upper and A2 stock I plan on using (Stag LPK not pictured). That A2 stock was originally off the pictured Colt Sporter. It was replaced with a standard 4-position collapsible stock (the Colt Sporter factory configuration was a 16" Carbine length with carry handle). Upper receiver is an Adco custom build. White Oak Armament (WOA) upper receiver with M4 feed ramps, 18" WOA SS SPR barrel with 1 in 7" twist (KG Black coated), WOA B/BC/CH, A2 flash hider, and Daniel Defense 12.0 handguard. Scope is a Leupold Mark 4 3-9x36 M3 Illuminated Mildot. Rings are ARMS #22H. Temporary lower receiver assembly is a Colt Sporter lower receiver with Rock River Arms 4-position stock and original factory Colt lower parts. Planned lower receiver assembly is a Gunsmoke Enterprises lower receiver with a Colt A2 stock and CMT/Stag lower parts kit.

No wait, that doesn't include the TAG ASP sling and Daniel Defense bunsed loop. It'll be something else new soon. |

Stevie, how do you like that Dissipator? I've been stewing about building one of mine out that way. It's a little different than the typical setup that's shown, and I kinda like it. One big hestitancy I have is that it loses the ability to attache a bayonet to it...
![]() I'm also thinking of going with all green furniture on it. Does that Colt you have dressed in green also have the matching handguards? I'd like to see a pic of that if you don't mind, only seen a few pictures recently of rifles that were done up with the green gear... Thanks! John |

John
Look on page 15, it has a pic of my Colt Sporter A2 with a green Arms 51 handguard. So far i like the dissy setup, I had the barrel lightened by ADCO and had that muzzle break removed. I do not plan on ever needing a Bayo, so i do not consider that a problem. ![]() |

Thanks - I'd seen that other picture, didn't realize it was the same rifle. Your pic's have good lighting, I was hoping to see a green setup with regular handguards. Oh well...
How's the balance of the Dissipator? They look barrel-heavy, but it's only a 16" barrel so it's probably just deceiving. John |

The heavy bbl version is front heavy. So thats why i had it lightened, its not that bad now. Granted once you add the rail, light etc.. it does get a little weighty. If you ever in L.A. area your more than welcome to fondle it.
