Pretty cool ideas in this thread. Anybody care to edit their posts with estimated cost to build and a list of building materials used?

I got it at a garage sale years ago. I had it on my temporary setup, which was a metal door on 2 sawhorses. I had my press mounted on a piece of subfloor and the subfloor was clamped to the metal door. I put all of the ammunition that I had stored in ammo cans on top of the bench which added stability. It actually worked great as a temporary setup, I made alot of ammunition using that setup, but as my addiction for reloading grew I needed more room and when I moved I made this current bench and wish I would had done it a long time ago.

Ok Here Is an Estimate of Everything I used

(2) pieces of plywood $12.00
(1) pieces of subfloor $25.00
(14) 2x4's $35.00
(18) Metal Brackets $60.00
(6) "L" Shelf Brackets $36.00
(2) pieces of pine shelving $12.00
Lag Bolts & Screws $10.00
Hutch found at Garage Sale $10.00

TOTAL $200.00

I had most of this material siting in my garage (used to work for a general contractor) so it only cost me about half of this. There are ways of doing it cheaper like not using the metal brackets and cutting lap joints and gluing and screwing pieces of wood together but I didnt want to spend time making all of those cuts. I was also debating on buying the subfloor but I'm sure glad I did, having a heavy thick work surface aids in the stability of the bench. And when I say stable this thing will hold my fat but at 220lbs and 8 (5) gallon buckets full of brass, and wont flex at all. As stated before in this thread bolting the bench into the wall is key. I can grab anyone of the press's I have and push and pull on them and my bench does not move or shake AT ALL.

PS: What is that Alien's umbilical cord-looking thingy over your press?! Is Segourny Weaver in your garage? "

Sorry it took me so long to respond...........
The alien looking thingy that you are referring to is a .75" conduit connector that feeds the shot bottle. There is 75# of shot in the hopper directly above it. The hopper hangs from the garage rafters with a safety chain on it. I have pulley system to lower the hopper for filling with shot, and raising it back up to feed the bottle/loader. I can go marathon loading since I don't need to stop and refill the bottle constantly, plud it's much easier to load when it's on the floor. I have thought about doing the same for the powder, but haven't gotten around to it yet, plus it seems that it might be a little dangerous having that much powder hanging over one's head.
I thoroughly enjoy reloading, almost as much as shooting!

Thanks for the compliments guys. This what my bench used to look like. It was good, but I needed more storage, so I bought some used kitchen cabinets and a new countertop with 3/4" plywood under it and got a lot more storage and a sturdy bench.

Finally bought a press of my own. My set-up is a bit rough, just slapped it all on the welding table so I could load some .44 for tomorrow. The Lee Challenger kit is pretty nice, though the powder scale is absolutely terrible. Next thing to buy is more brass and a digital powder scale, then I need to re-do the base plates on everything so it's easier to set-up and stores more compactly.

My wife said if my bench looks like it belongs in the garage it will go in the garage. I found these cabinets on sale at home depot had a custom top made on inch and a quarter plywood. Put locks on the doors and drawers now I have a bench that looks good in the house and both my presses store out of sight along with all dies and stuff. Total cost just under 300 bucks.

How many of these setups are for small reloading businesses and how many are just for personal use????

I like the pull cord for the light. Is that black thing around your press for catching primers? If so was it homemade or purchased?

Krzgoat,

I have the same press as cleanguy46, and the black primer catcher came with it from RCBS. It's works fairly well...

Yes it is. I just went with 3/4" plywood for a little more strength and added a 7'x3'x2" maple butcher block top to really finish it off.

ok, here is mine. The back has some of the brass & bullets as well as the moulds in boxes, bottom back holds the presses. In front the bench hinges up for storage, the boxes on the lower shelf are Handloader mags going back to the early 70's as well as other reloading books.

All the wood was purchased @ Home Depot and I think the 2x4's, three sheets of one side finished plywood (few bucks more but has a nicer look) and 2" drywall screws came to about $120. Your looking at $200 to build the bench including the kit and more if you finish it with a solid hardwood top.

Maybe I should build something like this. I've got this huge cutting board that came from a japanese restaurant - It's about 3' x 4' x 4". Probably weighs over a couple hundred pounds. It would make for a really nice, sturdy workbench.

Cool

Hallelujah! I finally figurered out how to post a pic!

What you see is all about reloading: bench made of a sears saw table. Inside is 100# of lead to help stabilize it. Wasnt really necessary as this ol saw already weighed over a hundred with the motor and all. Anyway I covered the top with plywood and mounted two presses, a vise, and Waldmann's magnifying worklight w/3 -13 watt compact PL's.
To the right is my primer cabinet. And on top of that is a tool box with various and sundry parts like primer tubes, and allen wrenches etc. Oh and I mounted a dremel on the bench and behind that is some tool heads for that.
Then on the wall is the Corona dart board which houses tubes, and accessories for both the Dillon R550 and the Lee Pro 1000.Just to the right of that is a styrofoam packing case I screwed to the wall to hold safety glasses and put some cleaners and oils on top. Next is small parts cases with hairpin clips for the primer tubes and thread locker and sundries. Above which are some dies and tool heads.
Then to the left in the pic are a space heater and a air conditioner used variously as needed while reloading. a Bucket Boss full of tools needed for presses, gunsmithing and all. In the wooden chest are spare gun parts, grips, original boxes and things. Whew, if my wife knew about all this I would have to buy her a mink stole to get over it.
