Default 22 rmf

Hey folks,

Purchased an unusual 22 derringer the other day (made by FIE, called the panzer; twist barrel style), which is super neat. Maybe I'll get in a nasty card game some day and it'll come in handy. Just seems fun.

I Was looking at the markings on it today, and noticed the chamber marking was 22 rmf rather than 22 lr or 22 wmr or any of the other normal markings. I've managed to find a few examples on the web but on the ones where I can see the markings they are all 22 lr not 22 rmf.

It didn't manage to ignite a 22 lr round in a test fire, my guess is an issue with a really light spring or possibly with the hammer not making contact with the round as I didn't see any indent at all, but I wanted to rule out that this was some weird designation for some other 22 round before I took it apart and started tinkering. So anyone ever seen anything marked 22 rmf before?

That may be the Winchester Rim Fire, kind of a predecessor of the 22 magnum.

Used to see them at Sportman’s Warehouse, but not sure if they still carry them.

FIE's are junk guns, should have been stamped SCHITT.

It’s not a heirloom piece that’s for sure. But it makes me smile and I’d love to get it shooting. The crazy twist action is definitely unique, and I like the ugly ducklings.

A chamber cast would be the best way to be sure, but hoping someone else has seen this sort of thing to save the work.
