Default Greater Idaho - Oregon SJM 2

Oregon state senator Dennis Linthicum (R-Klamath County) submitted a memorial to invite talks to move Idaho - Oregon border.

Hello Oregon, NO. Have a nice day.

A quick phone call aught to take care of that and it wont cost us a dime.

I imagine that even if it somehow got past the people of Idaho, it wouldn't get through Congress and the Uniparty. The only way this happens is if things go totally sideways and a cooperative agreement is set up to set perimeters at the lines established by the ideas that have been introduced already. Idahoans don't want or need anyone from Oregon, no matter how "based" they may be. We have enough already. This is just mental masturbation much like the State of Jefferson.

First, my post was just to provide notice, although I think that I understand the views of most Idahoans, which is not in favor of the Greater Idaho movement. As far as the State of Jefferson, I think that it is a great idea with little to no chance of success.

If we got all of Oregon east of highway 97, we'd have an interesting state, but it would look strange on a map. Add in eastern Washington, and you've got something.

States don’t determine their borders.
Just another symbolic protest gesture without teeth?

Oregon’s fine anyway.
Look how well they pushed 114 onto the back burner

Yuck. Leave spocompton in WA. Every time I pick people up from the airport I make sure they look at how gross WA is. Then drive through CDA and let them guess where the border is because the gross run down democratic garbage stops at the river.

Yes, the crime rate in Spokane is twice that in CDA which is slightly higher than Idaho overall.

You drive a hard bargain. Ok, leave Eastern Washington, we'll take the part of Montana west of the Wyoming border extended to Canada....

Edit to add: there's a long-standing myth that the original eastern border of Idaho was supposed to follow the Continental Divide instead of the Bitterroots, and that the surveyors got drunk or bribed. Not true, but a good story =)

LOL. I had to go to Spokane for work once. Got to see a couple "women" go at each other hammer and tong outside the Marriott. Fisticuffs, hair pulling, thrown objects.... three police cruisers came and cleared up the brawl. I was across the street, so I smoked a cigar and watched the free floor show. Reminded me of Skid Row in L.A.

Yeah - wasn't impressed with Spokane, and was glad to get out.

Sorry, I didn't mean to drop a turd in the punchbowl, but the whole State of Jefferson thing has been going for so long it's looking pretty Quixotic. As much as Oregon's conservative folks would like to be part of Idaho, I don't see the rest of the country boarding that train in relation to political power and the citizens of idaho who actually live here are less than inclined to just redraw our state lines to accomodate "outsiders". My comments were in no way meant to be a personal attack.

I just took my son back to the airport to return to his duty station at Ft. Riley, KS. We got to the downtown area on I-90, and I just casually mentioned "crap, I hate coming here". He mentioned that over his three week leave he didn't cross over the Idaho state line once except for that trip back to the airport. The last couple of times he's been here previously, he's gone with friends to peruse activities in WA. Even his older sister wasn't having any of WA when she came for Christmas. She lives in SF, so the "big city" has always been a draw for her rather than mom and dad's "podunk" Idaho. We raised 'em right, they just take their own time coming around....

User name checks out.

The "state" of Jefferson has been a hallucination from Californians for more than a few years.

Mormons politically tend to keep Idaho's roots. I'm not a Mormon, but I respect their goals for the state. We've got a few LDS folks around the area. They're usually first to respond if a neighbor needs something. They've never tried to lay an LDS trip on me or wife

Please tell everyone you know that Mormons and crazy KKK ****ers are everywhere in Idaho.

It's crazy how much they run this state, tell everyone you know to stay clear the hell away from ID.

California is the place to be so don't ever leave.

Wouldn't want your ignorance and stupidity spreading and scaring the Mormons and crazy KKK ****ers away.

What ever it takes to keep the Dems and libtards out of Idaho. But skilletboy is Oregon so I'm not sure if anyone would believe him about Idaho.

On the other hand, I agree with him that Jefferson would be great for eastern and southern Oregon and some northern CA counties. It's just not a realistic possibility.

Before moving to Idaho, one of my neighbors, a retired LEO, had a license plate frame that said: "State of Jefferson Boarder Patrol." I would have put them on my PU but chose Famous Potatoes plates instead!

Default Idaho HOUSE JOINT MEMORIAL 1

There is also a resolution in the Idaho legislature. See https://legislature.idaho.gov/sessio...lation/HJM001/
Apparently they will be voting on it in the very near future. Might want to contact your legislators with your views.

I will be contacting my state senators and rep with my recommendation of a "Hard NO!" to this resolution, and any further wasting of legislative resources on this topic. A resolution is pretty much symbolic circle-jerking, but this is a waste of time that needs to be better spent actually combatting the infiltration of rot from education and administrative "know betters". Not to mention the rooting out of entrenched good ol' boy networks in state and local governments in Idaho.

Idaho legislators and I'd say both executive and legal branches would 86 the change from the possibilities of reefer and stronger drugs. Norcal and southern Oregon grow what's illegal in Idaho and lots of it.

Oregon's highest volume mj store is a mile or so away from the Idaho state line.

Apparently Portland is now on board, as long as they get Boise.

Quote:
Blumenauer Says He’s Willing to Deal on Greater Idaho, if Oregon Gets Boise

“I would entertain a trade for Boise and Sun Valley,” Blumenauer said in a statement.

It would be a good swap for Oregon, budgetwise. Sun Valley and Boise are among the wealthiest parts of Idaho, and the 11 counties east of the Cascades that are Greater Idaho curious are among the poorest in Oregon.

This is not an Idaho idea. It's an Oregon idea. Citizens for Greater Idaho is headquartered in La Pine, Oregon. Just what is there that Idaho could possibly want let alone need? Most of it looks like high desert.

Think about it. Do we want California as neighbor? Do we want to be any closer to Portland or phrased properly do we want to make it easier for those in Portland or San Francisco to get to Idaho?

Well, the jerk-offs in the state Capitol went ahead and voted their symbolic "yes" to this waste of time. The only good that could come with this is another rep in the HoR.

Default The swamp won’t allow it

It would set a precedent that our overlords cannot abide.

It would also set a precedent that most Idahoans would puke on. If you've got an issue with Idaho "overlords", maybe move from Idaho.

Default Message from the Greater Idaho Movement

Message: "The Greater Idaho bill is in the Senate State Affairs Committee. We are uncertain whether it will pass a committee vote. We know of two committee members who need to hear from their constituents before they would ever be willing to vote in favor.

The rest of the committee members are here (call them please)

Hopefully the whole Senate will get a chance to vote on this in the next week or two, so please contact them."

The here and contact links provided were to https://legislature.idaho.gov/sessio...mmittees/SSTA/ and https://legislature.idaho.gov/legisl...smylegislator/ The two members referred to were Senator Abby Lee District 9 and Senator Mark Harris District 35. We need to contact all members of the Senate State Affairs Committee to express or opposition.

And what precedent would that be? Let Oregon solve Oregon's problems and stop wasting time and resources on these stupid movements.

Most Idahoans would puke on that? Or just the libs that try to hide in red clothing?

Well, I voiced my opinion NO on this waste of resources and time. I'll give credit to my Senate rep for acknowledging my email and opinion, neither House rep responded. Plus, he responded within about 45 minutes of me sending it at 6:am, so the guy must go through his emails at breakfast and it wasn't some Office assistant sorting it for him with cookie cutter reply. Of course we will see how he votes when it comes down to it.
