Default Christmas in Idaho

We have been giving and receiving homemade cookies all week, and tonight two children from the neighborhood brought me a big crusty loaf of bread and a bucket of Spun honey.

I really do love living here.

Awesome isn’t it Boss! Same situ in my neighborhood. It’s been a home made goods smorgasbord the last week here. We also all help each other shovel driveways.

I hope you are not using shovels but snow blowers and/or quads with blades! But yes, if I am a bit slow in getting out the snow blower, it is not uncommon that one of my neighbors has plowed the sidewalk in front of my home. If I get out there first, I plow the sidewalks both north and south of our home. Just part of being neighborly.

Nice! If I wasn't hypoglycemic, I'd be looking forward to that after I move there this spring.

What kind of whiskey?

Idaho smidaho!?? Tell me that when you can purchase and carry 10+ rnd mags; can buy off roster handguns without paying a premium; do not have to wait 10 days to take possession of the firearm you just purchased; can purchase more than one handgun from a FFL in less than 30 days; do not need to register any of the firearms you own or purchased; can carry, both openly or concealed, a firearm without the need for a permit or license; your firearms cannot be taken from you absence a conviction of a felony; there is no such thing as an assault weapon and you can own any NFA items by merely paying the $200 tax!

Easy there turbo. I live in CA so I know what I have going against me. And I do plan to move out of state as soon as I'm able. My point to my post was you can have good neighbors in all states. I'm lucky enough to still live in a very Conservative, Constitution loving area of California.

Howdy soon-to-be neighbor! Is there a Idaho gun forum like CG? Only one I found is Zidaho, great for gun ads but seems that's it.

No specific Calguns type Forum that I have found. You have the Zidaho you already found and also idahoguntrader.net. Both for buying/selling. Gl with your move the TV is a great Valley.

My neighbors 5 and 3 year old delivered cookies, and proceeded to snow shovel my driveway, kinda, it ended up looking like Spirograph art.

Thanks BAJ475!

Welcome (soon). No Idaho specific gun forums. Best bet is right here in the expats subforum, or utah guns which is new and just getting started. Of course ar15.com and m4 carbine.net are good resources for info. I’ve found a few good deals on zidaho over the years. Lots of dealers are using it now though to advertise new guns.

Feel free to post up here in expats any questions you have about the TV, or anything you need help with here before or after you get here.

I try to post up local gunshow reminders here in expats so keep an eye out and come enjoy a gun show in America. Get an Idaho drivers license and plates for your vehicles asap.

While the weather is warmish here 65 daytime and 32 night time we have the same great experience with strangers out and about since we don't have any immediate close to us neighbors.

People are very friendly here, a big change for us.

Yes, you can have good neighbors in all states. We had very good conservative neighbors before moving to Idaho.

I doubt that Idaho will ever be as bad as California for a couple of reasons; one being Article I, Section 11 of the State's Constitution which states: "RIGHT TO KEEP AND BEAR ARMS. The people have the right to keep and bear arms, which right shall not be abridged; but this provision shall not prevent the passage of laws to govern the carrying of weapons concealed on the person nor prevent passage of legislation providing minimum sentences for crimes committed while in possession of a firearm, nor prevent the passage of legislation providing penalties for the possession of firearms by a convicted felon, nor prevent the passage of any legislation punishing the use of a firearm. No law shall impose licensure, registration or special taxation on the ownership or possession of firearms or ammunition. Nor shall any law permit the confiscation of firearms, except those actually used in the commission of a felony." This provision not only prevents gun laws like California has, it constitutionally protects the right to open carry without a permit or license and that includes fully featured ARs if one so chooses.

Any thoughts about where you would like to move to? For a gun person Idaho is hard to beat. We even have half of Oregon wanting to become Idahoans!

My neighbor just brought me over a chunk of ham from the one he smoked this afternoon. Also brought over a croissant.

I'll agree that there can be good neighbors in any state.
I just spent the last few days at my old neighbor's house using their spare room. When I visit WA, I always have a place to stay.

Heh, despite living in Reno for a year, I haven't checked out any of the gun shows here. Heard from others that the NV shows are like CA show with overpriced stuff and knickknack dealers outnumbering gun dealers. I might hit one before I officially change residency just to see one. I am looking forward to the ID shows, especially the militaria show in May.

As for my NVDL and plates, already planning to switch over in May as well as update my ID Enhanced CCW from nonresident to resident.

They'll continue to wait. No interest in Idaho government in absorbing parts of another state.

The "state" of Jefferson has been and remains a pipe dream.

I think you got the secession movements confused. The dead 1941 "State of Jefferson" initiative only involved counties in northern CA and southern OR. However there is a different movement called "The Greater State of Idaho" that's trying to expand Idaho into most of OR and parts of northern CA. It's currently active and have "won" over 11 OR counties.

But as you said, it's just a dream since those 11 OR counties only passed nonbinding resolutions and any serious attempts would involve both state legislatures and US Congress. Getting approvals from ID, OR, CA and Congress... I think we all would have better chances of winning the lottery instead.

No, we don't. Let eastern Oregon, eastern WA, and N. California become one state if they want. Or three states. Idaho doesn't need them.

If we could select only Malheur, Wallowa, Baker, and maybe Union counties, we'd have a good deal. Lots more public land and both sides of Hell's Canyon.

While we're at it, extend the Wyoming border straight up to Canada. Now you've got something. Montana probably wouldn't like it though.

I can see Malheur, Wallowa and Baker. But how would Union benefit Idaho?

I am looking forward to the ID shows, especially the militaria show in May.

As for my NVDL and plates, already planning to switch over in May as well as update my ID Enhanced CCW from nonresident to resident.
About NV gunshows, the Knicknack thing is wrong, but everything is almost always overpriced at gun shows in my experience, at least in Oregon, Idaho, California, and Nevada. Its not to say deals can't be found at these shows, its simply to say the majority is overpriced. I have found deals at all of them, but it is not the norm.

Seriously, its hard enough fighting the rot in the major cities of ID.

and stupid *** stories like this

We own rentals in the CdA area, and its amazing how the libtards are starting to take over the area in the spring and summer.
Why do they disappear in winter?

Where I live in ID, it really is a sleepy town. all 800 residents with the city by us have 1000 residents, but even there, according to my neighbors, the rot is in their public high school. Many of our neighbors home school their kids.

Its funny how many California transplants there are in such a small city.

In towns this small, everyone knows you, even when they never met you

Great terrain, mostly. Umatilla and Wallowa-Whitman national forests take up most of the county. Also, we'd get the college in LaGrande.

I assume that you are speaking of Eastern Oregon University. How would that be an asset to the residents of Idaho rather than a liability?

I'm always for more colleges =) Make it a branch of LCSC, maybe? Or, a focused community college, supported primarily through property taxes on the four new counties

Our neighbors have kids down from Alaska, they brought us some smoked salmon and the biggest thickest halibut fillet I've seen.

We gave them some of our homemade applesauce and my wife's peach jelly. We love living here too
