This post was originally asking for a comprehensive list of green dot sights, but since that seems to be a far away pipe dream, now I am simply asking about green dot sights.
![]() Do you have a green dot sight that you really like? Please share and talk about it here!! ![]() Last edited by Rorge Retson; 12-11-2022 at 10:33 AM.. |

UPDATE: Do you have a green dot sight that you like? Please share about it here.
![]() Right now I have three 507C green dots (actually, the reticle is a circle around a dot), and one 507K (same as the 507C, just smaller). I also have a Swampfox Kingslayer on order, and will be sharing what I find when I get it and have mounted it. |

Thanks! Was this your first RDS? How long did it take you to get used to using the small sight picture? What do you have it mounted on? Any issues?

I have a Mepro RDS v2 (green circle/dot) and I like it. It seems to be slightly better for my astigmatism than my Sparc AR Solar which looks like a comma to my eyes vs a slightly blurry circle-dot. I also like that it has a knob vs buttons to control brightness with just one button to fine tune brightness within settings.

My first RDS, Justice on a Glock 19. At age 62+, able to easily shoot much tighter groups than my iron sighted CZ 75 SP01s! Love it. |

I have several green dot sights as they are easier for my old eyes to pick up that a red dot. I have 2 Trijicon MRO's but their green is probably closer to yellow. I have an XPS2 and it's as bright as the sun and is a true green. I also have several cheep Sig optics in green including a Romeo 5xdr, a 7s, and a couple of MSR's. My least favorite is probably the MSR. The controls and lens covers are really clunky but they are $100 optics so you get what you pay for. The XPS2 is probably my favorite. While it's smaller that some of the other Eotech hg sights but I wouldn't exactly call it compact. The Romeo 5xdr is neat because the reticle is a green triangle which is a play on the movie Predator.

The Green Eotechs are sweet!

All the Holosuns are okay (although you might have to return and exchange a few before you get a good one that doesn't have glue smudges on the lens/emitter as it's a common annoying issue with Holosuns), Trijicon MRO's are well made but not astigmatism friendly. Eotechs are great if you can afford them. I haven't looked through a Sig Romeo Zero Pro in Green but they should be good as they have a polymer lens.
Most recently, I tried out a Crimson Trace CT Rad Micro Pro on a Hellcat which was a major disappointment. They all seem to have a defect where the auto brightness lowers the brightness way too dimly in a dark area to the point where the green dot is no longer visible and it can't be controlled because it's auto brightness only. Otherwise, it's an amazing sight for the price (I paid $180 on OpticsPlanet for one on sale.) Crimson Trace customer support is non-existent either. I first emailed them about the issue a month ago, waited a week for them to respond which they didn't so I returned it back to OP, and still haven't got a response from Crimson Trace a month later. |

Trijicon should just put everyone out of business and start making all their optics in multiple footprints, offer colors other than red, and offer different reticle shapes like Holosun.
And although Vortex doesn't have too many green dot optics, I do have to throw in that they have the best customer service out of any company. Last edited by Xplosiv3; 12-27-2022 at 12:20 PM.. |

The Holosun 508T in a green dot is an awesome choice!

I have a Swampfox, Kingslayer, Green dot on my Beretta 1301 T., shot gun. It's lightweight, low profile and easy to see, especially for my aging eyes. The price is very reasonable, $180. The only negative is that it does not have "instant on" at that price.

I have a Holosun 407K Green Dot, which is a 6 MOA, on one of my carry pistols. Too early for me to tell if I am actually going to carry with it but no complaints about the optic itself, so far. I have Red/Green color deficiency and I can see the Green a lot easier than I can see Red. I have an Aimpoint Pro, which is a red dot, on one of my ARs and indoors, it's great. But on a bright, high contrast day outdoors, it's a bit more difficult for me to see the red, although I can, I just have to concentrate more to find the dot.
Just put a Holosun 507C (32 MOA circle with a 2 MOA dot inside that 32 MOA) on a Scalarworks mount (expensive a s s mount!) on my Smith & Wesson M&P 12 Bullpump Shotgun. Have not made it to the range yet to sight it in but I plan on it next week. So far, Holosuns are good bang for the buck but a friend who shoots competitively says the Holosuns crap out under heavy abuse all of the time. He shoots in a few different sports and said the Holosuns aren't heavy duty, they're a bit fragile. If you are going to abuse it, I would spend the money for Aimpoint, Eotech or Trijicon. I tend to be pretty easy on my gear but if I decide to carry with one, I will likely replace the 407K Green with something built better with more of a rep for abuse. CCW is a case where the damn thing better work and always work so I don't mind spending $500 on that optic versus $200-$300 on optics for the range toys. If an optic goes down on a range toy, it's just a minor inconvenience. But if an optic goes down on a CCW, HD or competition gun, it's a lot more of a big deal.

I have one firearm with the red/green option. I tend to not use either color. I use the BUIS and just look through it. It does, however, make the firearm look kewler

Vortex Spitfire 1x with the donut of death reticle for my AK truck gun (side rail mounted picatinny). I like the red on the lowest setting as it?s easier to acclimate to at night, when fast sight acquisition is a priority.
Don?t really use green but I suppose it would be good for daytime. I used to have a Swampfox Trihawk 3x on a PTR-91 and it was great for hitting steel plates at 300, but the internet operators were capping on it for their cheesy marketing graphics, which has a side that looked like a buff Michael Knowles, complete with a cigar in his mouth in some sort of combat pose. Just for that, it?s in the optics box, but it was working well and the price was right. I like prism optics because they are good for old eyes and they still work if the battery dies. Edit: whoops everyone is talking about micro red dots, sorry!

I have a Holosun 407K green with 6 MOA dot on one of my carry guns. ONLY reason I went with that over the Trijicon RMR was battery location. Price wasn’t an issue. As soon as Trijicon comes out with an easily replaceable battery I will swap the Holosun.

Do not know if this is really a dot sight so much..But I really like this Vortex Spitifire Prism..Great thing is that it can be used just as well with the illumination turned off...Has red/green reticles if you desire to use the lights..
No blooming at all with my old eyes..Etched reticles are fantastic.. ![]() |

I like the Vortex because of the circle reticles..That said I would have done it different than they did..I would have either eliminated one of the larger circles,And kept just one and the small tiny dot in the center..Or I would have eliminated the tiny center dot and just kept the larger outer circle and the smaller inner circle..I do not think all three together was a great idea..
