Kootenai Electric is having some real trouble with power delivery.

Power has gone down 5 times within the past 24 hours and went down again about an hour ago.

Wicked combination in this weather if one doesn’t have a generator or a wood stove.

I have a WH generator but truly miss my wood stove.

Funny, We are actually having a thaw.
Wore shorts for the first time on the first day of winter taking the dogs for a hike.
Since November 1, it has been in the teens almost every morning
Weather patters sure are strange.

I was planning to look into a WH generator myself. It will probably be later this year though. Trying to get a condo sold in Arizona to put the money into my workshop/garage as well as the generator. Right now I just have a portable gas generator for emergencies. That said we have been lucky so far and haven't lost power. I was out of town on business a couple of months ago when a big wind storm blew through and my wife lost power while I was gone. Fortunately that wood stove just keeps on kicking!

Series of heavy storms coming in from the south here this evening, Sunday, and Monday.
Will dump heavy water laden snow in our Wasatch (Western edge of the Rocky Mountains)
I’m at 5,000’ in the east Salt Lake Valley bench.
Gonna teach my 12 year old daughter to use the snowblower if we get a lot

Doubt it’ll reach Idaho?

At least not in the Panhandle. Our forecast shows fog/clouds for the next 4-5 days with only a slight chance of precipitation.

75 yesterday and today in Texas but wild and rainy weather predicted for tomorrow. We had a couple of single digit days the week before Christmas and shirtsleeve weather leading up to New Years. I guess we need to take 'em when we get 'em. Stay safe!

Here in Elk Ridge (South of Provo at 5400 feet) it was going between rain and snow since Friday and today around 10am solid snow since. Have about a foot in the driveway with the bottom couple of inches heavy slush. It's going to be a real adventure with the blower in the morning.

Snowiest Dec in Salt Lake City since 2007 and since I moved here
Of course the drought will officially continue
Northeast has likely beaten bigger records

At least three feet where I am in the last three weeks. Woke up surprised this morning after another four inches overnight. It's a great start to winter. Let's hope it keeps up.

Just saw the weather for Boise
Really is mild there
5 - 10 degrees colder at night would bring a lot of snow since it rains

Really nice there

Really not much different than where I used to live in CA. So much for the "weather weather weather" canard. No pig hunting though, and I do miss that.

If I start hearing "drought" I will be inviting that person to my house to shovel paths to my chicken coup and greenhouse. Not only was it 18" deep but the first 6" of it was super high in water content (as in very heavy).

Looks like a lot of snow coming to southern Utah Mountains starting this evening. Supposed to snow all night, all day tomorrow and Monday!

Huge winter storm arriving here Tues.
Predicting 3-4 feet for our Rocky Mountain resorts.

Been slacking a bit this month. Gonna make up for it with prejudice

Major snow here. Will highly likely be a school district snow day tomorrow.
That’s good because I don’t need to get up early to blow snow to take my son to school. And the buses likely won’t run

Great for snow pack

Idaho seems to avoid the major impact of these storms even though they’re just north of us
Wyoming gets smacked

We really have.

Did get a little up north today, about an inch. Just lots of wind for the last 5 days and we are going to dip into the single digits overnight for a day maybe two.

We got a good snow in fall but it's been very mild since. Was looking forward to meeting up and laughing at the people sliding on the iced roads this year but there just hasn't been much.

A bit of snow falling now here in middle Sierra foothills. Forecast for a LOT more through this week. Was down in the low 20’s last week, same into this week.

My joke is that North ID has had more rain than snow so far this winter. I guess we’ll see how it goes. As for this afternoon, really weird weather getting the snow (melting as soon as it hits the ground) followed by wind out of the north.

We've gotten a foot of snow since noon. It's still coming down hard. Plows aren't keeping up.

Wife's school district said maybe they'll call it around 5 am.

That north wind is bringing winter back from the cunuks. We got about 4” so far. I don’t care. It’s nothing compared to what MN weather was growing up. The new bit of white did cover my now perfectly clean driveway but tractor is full of fuel and ready to go tomorrow.

Looks to be 4-5” of snow here this morning in Hayden.

First decent storm here within the last month.

The white stuff has arrived along the Pacific Northwest coastal areas. We don't always get snow down to sea level but it's here this morning. I'm above 1,000' and woke up to a couple inches on the ground with everything blanketed in white. Looking at the road cameras online, I can see that it's all the way down to sea level.

More is predicted tonight after the day time temperatures drop back down. It's always a treat to wake up to the white landscape, especially being retired and not having to go anywhere. The only inconvenience for me this morning was having to brush the snow off the satellite dish (which I mounted on a 5' tall post so I could easily reach it when the occasional snow covers the dish).

More irrefutable proof of man caused global warming!

With that wind blowing, it's downright cold. Had the hydrant for the food trailer heat wrapped, but forgot I shut the breaker off so our neighbor wouldn't "borrow" our power to save him some coin. Frozen tight.....toesies and fingers frozen now....still ain't going back to CA. 5-6 inches of snow at home in Rathdrum, 12" piled up in front of the north-facing roll up doors. There were some cool little drift ridges that looked like pristine white sand dunes with a knife edge on top.

I had waist high drifts between the 5th wheel and house. That little LS tractor earned it keep today.

Deep drifts
Near record.
Have to upgrade my snowblower.
School District called snow day tomorrow as well because side roads and schools still covered
Most I’ve seen since moving from CA.
Salt Lake going for another Olympic Bid
They got the snow

Elk Ridge, Southern Utah County, we got 24 inches in 24 hours. I blew the driveway twice today and I will have to do it again in the morning.

We only ended up with just a hair over an inch. That wind though. Wife has put me to work monitoring the stove.

Can do boss!

Snowing again tonight.
A break Friday through Saturday. We’re getting the California storms Sunday through Wednesday.
School resumes tomorrow.
I have no other place to throw more snow.
Mountains of blown snow here in the neighborhoods

May refill Great Salt Lake

More snow every day this coming week here.
First to arrive California’s storm

Likely back to back storms in March and April like 1982
Spring melt turned streets in Salt Lake into deep rapid rivers

March miracle year
For Californians and Utahns

Absolutely love it.

Coming from Bakersfield where we lived in the rain shadow, this is quite welcome. We had five foot drifts in places on the property.

Still it was a beautiful day.

Let's fill up that GSL!

But tonight 5-6? of ?wintery mix? on the way. That usually spells heavy wet snow. Fun stuff!
