They are saying maybe rain and snow starting Sunday here in the North. I don't think we will see that much yet but who knows?

My first winter here 3 years ago we got snow in late October and just little spits of it the rest of the season. Last year we got a good bit more but nothing crazy. Cold temps sure but nothing like people told me it was going to be.

This will be my third winter. Maybe I'll see what the buzz is about finally since this is supposed to be akin to Siberia or so people have told me.

My lawn sprinklers get drained and blown out with air tomorrow. Irrigation was shut down a week or so ago. Tractors and cars have block heaters and battery chargers on board.

I'm hoping/praying for a ****e load of snow this winter.

This last winter was our first up here, just south of CDA. We didn't think it was bad at all. A neighbor who has lived here for 30 years said it was one of the heavier and colder winters he has seen.

I haven’t blown out sprinklers. Do ok, even with close to 0 temps.
Will shut water to them off.
Outdoor spigots are anti freeze types
Heater on to basement as well so never had frozen pipes

Interesting.

Something fun I like to do is go downtown CDA and watch people drive through parking lots. It scrambles my brain watching the so called locals slipping and sliding everywhere.

At the Super 1 here in Athol there is a sharpish turn into the parking lot and the road is kind of narrow. When I'm bored I will grab a cup of coffe and sit and watch people slid into the sign or into the ditch.

I keep telling myself that if the weather was actually any worse people would be dying left and right.

I might just go downtown and entertain myself this winter eating lunch and watching.

I found it interesting that there was a running count last winter of how many idiots tried to pass the snowplows on the right and crashed into the edge of the plow.

Yeah the sprinkler blow out is new to me as well. Never did that living in CO for 8 years. Just turned the water off to the valves and opened up the bleeders.

Never had any grass/irrigation in Tahoe, but 6 ft of snow wasn’t unusual overnight.

As usual, Ice is the big issue driving/walking in areas where the temps are below freezing. We live off Lancaster near English Pointe and there are some shade areas that I’ll be paying attention to while driving into town.

Even during the dead of winter in snow, kids here wear shorts and a jacket or no jacket.
I’m acclimated to the climate and only wear cargoes, casual leather shoes, and a light jacket most of the time.
Early morning snowblowing, a heavier jacket, spiked boots, and ski gloves

No snow in the forecast, but it froze the last two nights here in south west Tennessee and probably won't get above the mid fifties for the foreseeable future. It probably won't snow until after the first of the year.

Snow isn't really all that bad or hard to deal with except for when I lived in Reno and all the knuckleheads from Commiefornia that would be crashing all over the place and clogging up the roads. Heck, from what I have seen, most Commiefornians can't drive in the rain either.

We had a storm 2 years ago where it rained the night before, froze then snowed on top of the ice. Hilarity ensued amongst the CA expats in our neighborhood since we have a lot of steep hills and driveways. About 20 cars were strewn about people's yards, in the riverbed, crashed into trees. One particularly challenging spot took 2 days to clear of wreckage. I need to set up a trail cam next time.

It's supposed to freeze here on Monday, but no snow in the forecast.

They might be thinking about the winter of 2017 in Idaho. Wouldn't have beaten Siberia, but it would have made northern russia look at its hole card...

Those conditions (rain, freeze, snow) are about the most dangerous to drive in. Pretty much zero control unless you have chains or studded snow tires.

I came across that exact scenario 10 years ago in Tahoe and was able to put my SUV into a soft snow bank and come to a stop. Then the car began spinning down the incline and ended up in another bank lol.

Sounds like a great plan. Crown and Thistle is one of my favorite spots n the downtown area. Their beer battered bangers and Guinness short rib pie is excellent.

90 degrees at the end of October, and you have to live in Canoga Park, to boot. Sucks to be you.

The only part of the SFV that isn't a crap-hole is Porter Ranch. Enjoy the 90 degrees when the Santa Ana's come howling in from the desert around Christmas time.

Well, it started tonight. 7pm and came home to snow sticking to my sons car in the driveway. At least the wind calmed down from this afternoon.

I’m in! We did that years ago after an ice storm in MN at the local high school. It was sad to see the carnage but also hilarious to watch.

You guys got much more snow out west. Here in Holladay we just got lightly dusted for a short period but it didn't stick. It was a cold weekend though.

Got our first snow of the season today. Probably got about 1.5 inches or so but of course it's melted off since temps are in the high 30's.

Sweet Lou’s with a window seat and pork ribeye with a side of space dust sounds excellent! What day and time? Monday or wait for a slippery day?

Lets get some snow and freezing temps. An afternoon flurry makes it more interesting.

The best is when it snows, then rains, then freezes hard overnight.

Snow starting tomorrow here and into Thursday with a 22 degrees low

The west bench Salt Lake Valley
5,100’ elevation with lake effect (Great Salt Lake)

Last year of a triple dip La Niña often produces heavier than average snow in extreme Northern Utah

The calamity on my dirt road last year was epic.

The road is straight and mostly flat but there is a section between my property and my neighbors to the west that is a very slight incline.

Peopel coming and going too fast sliding all over the place and getting sideways and sliding to the bottom.

Two cars wrecked into the rocks out front by steering into the shoulder. Those rocks are exposed the rest of the year so it's not like it's, "Suprize! You just wrecked your car!". But both of 'em were steaming mad.
