I see people advertising Utah licenses. Why?

Utah licenses as in CCW?

Well for one, if you travel outside of Commuefornia, it’s recognized throughout most of the US with a few exceptions.

As of most recent data available, Utah non-resident CCW is recognized in 32 states.

Utah allows you to carry in Washington, Arizona allows you to carry in New Mexico. Get both. Allows you to carry in 30 states. Maybe 31.

Exactly...adding Florida helps too.. Florida was reinstated for Nevada... California alone does not cover Nevada...that's the main reason why people get Arizona and/or Utah..they cover nevada..Las Vegas, Laughlin...

I think the top 3 CHL. Arizona, Oregon, Utah. Those 3 let you carry most state west of the Mississippi.

Oddly enough your CA CCW is approved in 25 states, Utah non-res is like 32. Main reason is Nevada and 6 other states you may visit.

I have Utah mostly for Nevada. I used to have Nevada but like Oregon, you have to go to Nevada to get it. Once Nevada recognized Utah, I dropped it.

In addition to all the reasons posted above, it will be hard for California to deny to a holder of one or more state issued non resident CCW permits/licenses.

For me being able to carry in Washington and Nevada were important. I have meeting Monday for my Oregon and just need to put my Arizona permit in the mail. Honestly don't need Arizona at this point, as New Mexico is not a big deal but figure it does not cost much.

NO! You are required to take an in person class from a UT CCW Instructor. In fact, that is the ONLY way to get a UT CFL period. I haven't held a UT/multistate class in a while. Maybe I should schedule one???

The PRK doesn't care how many other licenses one may have.

Last I knew, they were 6-8 months out. AZ's CCW Unit got hit hard with C19 and then they hype from Bruen. My info is a couple months old though.

Mine was a little over 2 weeks from receipt by AZDPS to in my mailbox a month or so ago. Seems renewals take months.

Thanks for the update. In the past, I've known people who have reported a 6 day turn around from mailing their app off to receiving. But, that was pre Covid.

When I was denied the right to even submit my Colusa county application to the Sheriff some years back and told to plead my case to the Williams Police Chief, I took my Nevada, Arizona, Florida, and Utah permits to the meeting. He thought they were very nice and said he would happily accept my application, but there was zero chance he would approve it because he doesn’t believe in CCW.

Hopefully things have changed for the people there.

Yes, it will work for an AZ permit.

How long has it been expired?

If it’s lapsed too long, you’d need to reapply and complete the process again.

No, UT requires a class taught by a UT CCW Instructor which includes a couple hours on UT specific laws and a couple hours of general CCW stuff.

You'll need to take the 4 hour class over. There is no qualification course, just the classroom portion and the fingerprint card for background check. Super easy.

Their training requirement is easier to fulfill. DD214 or CA CCW/ NRA basic pistol training will suffice. UT requires you to take a class with a UT instructor to meet the training requirement.

But there's no qualification. Approximately 4 hour classroom time and that's it. Pay the fee, get your prints and photo and it's shall issue within 60 days.

I know.

But some can use their CCW or already completed training for AZ without having to pay extra to take a UT course.

Nothing against UT (I?m a UT instructor), but in terms of cost for some, AZ would be beneficial if one has documented training or is a vet.

If one doesn?t have any permits, then it doesn?t matter which one you get (unless one is looking for certain state recognition- WA vs NM).

For me, I?ll tell everyone get both, especially as some states drop recognition etc.

Very true...that's why I got all 3, Arizona, Utah and Florida... overlapping coverage.
