Prettyuxh all boots have mediocre reviews. I have some Bates that i wore for a couple of years, not hot weather versions. They were ok but they were warm. Need to be 670-1 compliant.
I'm looking at the Rocky S2V tactical. Doesn't say they are specifically hot weather but they are "vented". ~$250 stings a little. Any recommendations I should consider?

I’ve never cared for the S2Vs but they’re popular and I saw a lot of them on feet in 128 degree weather. If you sweat a lot and your feet get wet from it I’d think the S2V might get warm- it’s a thicker boot for sure.
I’m nuts but I just like the look and feel of the basic issue hot weather boots :-) |

Danner Gortex
https://www.danner.com/men/military/...oyote-gtx.html Don't skimp out on foot wear. Spend whatever you have to on boots and socks. Go cheap on t-shirts and underwear.

Are you sure those are hot weather? I had some goretex trail shots and they were hot on the feet. 65B, physical therapist. I'll be on my feet most of the day, walking around otherwise. I will have to wear uniform and boots pretty much all the time, everyday, except PT and maybe after duty day.

What you need is some skull crushing jungle boots but those ****s apparently aren’t authorized anymore. Just change your socks every chance you get, I guess.
![]() Edit: I just read your MOS. You should have plenty of opportunities to change your socks. Lol. |

As Logistics company level officer I don't really know what my feet will be stepping in. Certainly not a combat MOS, but the terrain they are in is going to be the same. So I'd rather invest in keeping them dry. SOCKS!!!!!!!! are an important investment. Maybe even more so if you get a cheap boot. All I remember is the GI Issue boot at Basic made all the toes numb from crushing the front of my feet. The moment I hit AIT I got myself different boots. It took more than a few years to get the feeling back in my toes. So I'm more than happy go in a few bucks more when I don't know how far I'm going and how much crap I have to carry.

I can ruck all day in the standard issue DLATS hot weather boots (they're available in XW, which is what I need), others hate just standing in them. Nike or Reeboks were popular when I deployed, but if you do a lot of walking, they don't last. and as others said SOCKS, SOCKS, SOCKS |

The best boots I've ever worn are Reebok R4360s. They come without the composite toe. My foot problems have gone away since getting them.
Athletic soles on a military boot, with a composite toe, and under $150? I'll take two pair. Had them for a year and didn't have issues with the heat in 90+ degree weather on concrete(flightline maintainer). I feel guilty when I step off of the truck onto the flightline, these boots feel as if I'm wearing slippers compared to the Bates or Bellevilles that I'm issued. One caveat, the soles and footbed are a little easy to damage. Watch out if you're hard on your boots, you may peel the rubber off, or rub the coyote color off and expose the white foam.

Danner Reckoning are the most comfortable boots I've ever worn. Can wear these all day during summer firearms classes out in the desert in 100+F temps on concrete and gravel with no issues. My feel still feel great at the end of a 4-day class. Every other shoe or boot I've tried had my feet aching by day 2. Even in the summer I wear these with thick, cushy wool socks.
They're not cheap, but they're made in the USA and 670-01 compliant. https://www.danner.com/reckoning-8-coyote-hot.html ![]()

Just got back from 9 months in the Middle East. I worked outside on my feel 12hr shifts in full kit. The Rocky S2V were issued and they weren’t too hot, but the suck on any type of paved or brick groundwork.
Went with the old Oakley boot (not the new tan ones they have now) and never looked back. They don’t last al one time, but will last a whole deployment unless you are running through the mountains. If you are working on crap and need steel toe protection, don’t skimp. Also, I didn’t wear the green socks. I bought the Hanes XTemp socks and tossed them when they got thin. Bad socks can make good boots suck. |

Make sure you get the socks/inserts that fit your feet THEN go looking for the right boot using that same combo and you'll get a much better outcome... |

I've had pretty good luck with Keen boots. I used to rotate out a few sets of bates to avoid swampy boots but I haven't had to do that with my Keens. No smell, no funk but they take forever to break in. Also tried Danners because they did me well back in the day but they squeaked so bad outta the box, the old lady could find me in the store by sound alone.

Thanks for the recommendations folks. I ultimately went with Oakley, can't remember the model, while at FT McCoy back in June. Got some of those $40 inserts from Patriog tactical. Not sure the inserts made a difference. Been walking around BDSC on gravel and dirt since July and boots holding up pretty well so far. They'll be trashed by the end of the tour I'm sure. But they are light and flexible.

I've been wearing similar doing construction mostly on flat concrete all day (note 3 layer soles with soft middle layer). I also like them on recreational day hikes on uneven ground to prevent ankle twisting and keep stickers and dirt off socks. They aren't light but they due give decent protecting for kicking stuff around. I wear them with Red River GI socks (about $10pair on Amazon). Socks are outlasting the boots. Like ad shows they didn't use enough glue on the soles and that is why everyone is selling these boots cheap. You gotta re-glue then they will start ungluing elsewhere. |
