Just a brief update.....I headed over for my appointment on Feb 4th... Easy as can be. Brought all my documents....they were reviewed, photograph taken, and fingerprinting competed. Literally in and out in 15 minutes.
Card arrive exactly 14 days later in the mail. They were exceptionally nice and I would highly recommend. |

Went to Klamath today. Submitted my application. Gave her the required documents. Photo and fingerprinting done within 15 minutes. Hardest part was driving there and back. She said I should receive my permit within 4-6 weeks as long as everything checks out.

Yep, KCSD is awesome. I transferred my OR CHL from Grant to Klamath when Grant suspended issuing nonresident CHL at the time. (I heard Grant has resumed nonresident issuance.) The 300+ miles drive from Roseville, CA to Klamath Falls, OR wasn't too bad but the random wildfires would detoured me into some out of the way routes. I ended up in Lassen Volcanic NP during one trip.
Thanks to the plague rules, I was able to renew back in February without appearing in person. Originally I called KCSD to do an address change but since my CHL was expiring later this year, I ended up doing an early renewal. The CCW clerk highly suggested renewal since the plague rules were expiring soon and in person appointments were returning. I just sent in my renewal form, photo and payment, then my new CHL arrived in the mail under 2 weeks. Since I'm moving to Idaho next year, I'll probably transfer my OR CHL file to Malheur County instead of driving 6+ hours to Klamath Falls for an address change.

Probably because of the holidays and end of the year but I applied in Klamath Falls on November 28th and got my permit in the mail today 1/17. Still not too bad but have to admit I was getting a little worried. They told me 4 to 6 weeks so not too far off. Could not of been easier. They are very organized and professional in the office. I was out in less than 15 minutes.

Many have been issued from Klamath. Do note that counties in OR don’t have to issue to non-residents, as not all counties do, and some only issue to those only in ID, NV, and WA.

Ok ok who’s driving to Oregon anytime soon. I have a truck to drive but don’t want to drive alone. I’m going sometime end of April or early may. Who’s coming let’s go. Is it advisable just to fly there and get a rental to submit an application. Can they mail you the permit if granted or do you have to personally get it yourself? Anyone who have done this might really know what’s the best route.thanks

Applied last week in Lake County. There was no request for justification on the form.
I believe the form is new/updated and not currently available on line. The process was quick and easy. The hard/scary part was during travel. I realized we were traveling through the PRC with a 12 can clip of off-roster soda in an unlocked container with no proof of CRV payment! |
