New Pistol for 10 year old with small hands...
Hey gang,
My 10 year old daughter loves her S&W AR 15-22 and now I want to introduce her to pistol shooting. I've had terrible luck with .22lr pistols having constant malfunctions with even the best ammo in my life, so I'm wondering if you have experience with any that shoot reliable, but don't have massive grips? I know some of the Rugers, Brownings, and S&W odd looking .22lr's are supposed to be very reliable, but are the grips too big? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! - jerdog3

Browning 1911-22.
It's 80% sized compared to a regular 1911. It's light, accurate, reliable and very easy to rack the slide.

My ruger 22/45 eats everything
Just hit it with brake clean to get the carbon buildup off of it. 38 special/ 357 revolvers are a good choice with a light recoil 38 is a good choice Thumb cock each shot

Ruger Bearcat.
Approx 1/2 the weight of a full size. SA, so must be deliberately loaded, one round at a time. One click at a time. And deliberately cocked and triggered for each shot. Promoting accurate fire to make the can bounce. I also advocate for reactive targets to enhance the gratification they get with a hit. Holes in paper don't do much to peak the interest of young'ns.  Small grip frame. Easily controlled by kid's hands.

Great advice everyone! My kids been shooting my Advantage Arms Glock conversion kit for a while, but we can't get through a magazine without a malfunction.
So as great at the Bearcat is, and I grew up shooting one, she is ready for a legit pistol to go with her S&W AR 15-22.

So my two top choices I can't get because of stupid California gun laws! I wanted to get something I can put a red dot sight on and of those the top choices are the FN 502 and the Ruger MK4 Lite, but neither are on the Approved Handgun List! Cali did it again!
Anyway, I'm actually worried the Ruger 22/45 would have too big of a grip for her hands. I live in Los Angeles and the few gun shops around me don't have enough inventory to try all the guns on for size. Anyway, love the suggestions so far. I'll find that reliable, lite, accurate, small grip, red dot sight ready, pistol somehow! Keep any suggestions coming if you got them, or let me know which ones here that you agree with! Thanks gang!

Another vote for the Browning 1911 22LR. Get the version with the longer barrel. On our last outing we had three kids between 10-12 yrs old running it and it performed excellent. My own kid preferred the 1911 over the Buckmark as the lighter, easier to handle pistol.
