I’ll have to keep watching their site because these rifles are out of stock just about everywhere.

Since these are being shipped from HK in CA compliant configuration I'm guessing we won't see more of these at SW until they do another full production run. Probably won't be for a while.

Last round bolt hold open (BHO) - is that what you are asking about? Remove the empty mag, pull the bolt handle back a bit and let go and the bolt will go forward.

Or remove the empty mag, insert a loaded mag and do the same thing only now a round will be chambered - making the gun hot.

This is the way...

Think it’s only the non-California versions that are in stock both rifle and pistol 25+1 rounds. Because the model number on the box may be different from the ca legal 10+1, may not even be able to order it here in ca.

There is no roster of long guns, therefore model numbers do not matter. The only thing that matters is configuration.

Score! For sure Sportsman's is the way to go if you have one near you to do the DROS. All you have to do is check inventory around 10-11PM every night, and be quick because they wont last long.

This is what I did. You can also use a 10% off coupon too. Initially it didn't take mine but I called them and they adjusted it.

Was able to get the recent $50 coupon honored after it wouldn’t take when ordering online. Luckily it reflected the coupon code on my order confirmation and when I went into the store for the DROS I had the physical coupon in hand.

I am saving my 10% for something as a little more expensive
I did notice that there is now a cap of $100 off on these 10% coups.

The Python as an example with 10% said $100 max where everything under $1000 was adjusted accordingly.

That is a bummer. I used a 10% coupon on a Python before the new year and got full value from it.

ALSO - don't forget to use ActiveJunky for cash back when you place SW orders! Right now it is 4.5% but it sometimes goes higher. PM me if you need ActiveJunky info

Most people agree the Hk is superior. The GSG is a plastic airsoft body wrapped around a .22 blowback assembly. The Hk is hefty metal and feels solid. The Hk is also easier to clean.

Some folks really like their GSG though

dmo171, I have both (on my second gsg 16 in OD green). Me personally, I prefer the gsg by a long shot...so much that I am getting rid of the hk without even having shot it. It is just way too heavy for a plinker .22, the faux can makes a lot of noise when it comes in contact with other solid objects, the balance is poor, the stock (my biggest excuse) only has two positions and at the shortest...it sucks to bring it up to eye level. The mags on the hk are way longer than needed for a 10 round plus you can’t store any on board...ugh. The krylon rattle can paint is so thin you won’t want your lady friend’s nails anywhere near it. The gsg is cheaper and comes in several colors so you can get a couple and not be bored with having all black rifles. Although it’s plastic, it doesn’t feel as cheap as one may think. Multi position stock +, multi rails +, extra mag storage +, availability of mags +, reduced noise caused by fake cans +, trigger ++. I bought the hk on impulse after hearing how scarce they were, how cool it would be to have one etc. Now that I have shouldered one and compared it to the gsg side by side...I would never buy one again regardless of coupons and such. At the end of the nyte, the hk still fits like it’s made for a child.

You know if they still make the GSG and selling? Interested in one of these, but after reading what you wrote, now I'm reconsidering for a GSG if they still sell them. Wouldn't mind having both though.

Thanks for the review, that as what I needed to hear.

The GSG16's are sometimes available on the American Tactical imports website

If you're near Sacramento, Wild Bill's had a few in stock the last time I was there. I think they were $399.

It wasn't cheap but the fit it nice and snug. I haven't shot with it yet but I doubt the massive 22lr round will jar it loose.

Just in case anyone finds this information useful, that $100 mount 12pewpew posted fits perfectly, no modification needed.

I also purchased two cheaper ones, like $10-20 each. One did not fit at all and the other didn't fit well.

For GSG 16-22’s go to Alquist Arms (BETTER PRICE WHEN AVAILABLE...GET ON THE NOTIFY ME LIST) website first, then WILDE BUILT TACTICAL (higher price but get more shipments). Turner’s, if you ask them to double check and triple check they can find a firearm most of the time and do store to store.

It seams you need hi velocity rounds like 1200fps+. I’ve used cci mini mag and stingers and they ran great. Norma tac at 1060 ran like garbage and was really dirty too.

So far 200 rounds of Winchester Wildcat works without an issue.

Read the manual. There is a set screw behind the stock that let's you adjust according to what ammo you want to run. I run subsonic in mine. Runs everything except aguila subs and cci quiets.

I have mine up for sale with a potential buyer coming to see it on Monday (his earliest), if he doesn’t buy them, I will have (3) brand new 10 round OEM mags in HK packaging up for sale.

Finally was able to shoot mine. Got a cheapo rail from Amazon for $14 or so. Looked at all the reviews and decided to give it a shot. Just could not spend $50 bucks on one on a $400 22lr range toy. Mounted it with loctite on the screws and added a TRS25. I used a slightly shorter riser than the supplied TRS one. It gave me a better check weld and presentation. Ran around 300 rounds of strictly Aquila as it ran 100%. No FTFs, stove pipes, etc. Brought some other brands as back up, but did not use them. Cannot wait to get some more mags as it sucked loading a single 10 rounder that many times. Picture was a 10 round mag into the head and 10 rounds center mass. Had a few flyers. Trigger is okay for what it is. Shot 50 yards away on a table to zero in the TRS25. The steel is actually a mini silhouette. Looks like a full size because I think I zoomed in for the pic. Shooting regular standing at around 30 yards gave me almost the same accuracy. Gun is pretty accurate, and I am sure way more accurate than me. Glad I picked one up for some fun plinking.

I’m basically in the same boat but I’m using a PA red dot. You got a link to the rail you ordered?

Have that same rail on my mp5 since the first production of these mp5 was made along with a vortex sparc. Never once had an issue with it. I too couldn't justify paying $50+ for a picatinny rail mount for a 22. At the time amazon did not have them so I went to the next best thing, airsoft store!
