Getting rid of that old weld must’ve been a beeotch. Awesome!

Just for disclosure, most of ours are post 86 dealer samples, so 1/5th or less the cost of transferrable guns now. The M11 above was $650 on GB a few years ago as a no law letter post sample. Today NLLPS guns sell for substantially more. For those wondering "how can I do that?", you have to be an 07FFL/02SOT to buy them. If you are in a free state, do it!

The M11 machine gun has slots in the rear to accept stock attachment with a bolt on the bottom of the receiver that holds it in place via a steel block.

So the folder fits in the unaltered lower?

Where can I get one? I'm not the biggest fan of that sort of stock, my buddy had a mini-Uzi that had the same thing. The hump in the stock tends to whack you right in the cheekbone.

How is the comb height in relation to the sights?

Sorry, no idea where that was purchased. The comb height is too high.

@EBR Works - what are the requirements to become and SOT? Do I have to have an actual business or can I just have a SOT so that I can buy cool toys for myself.

You must be an FFL to obtain a SOT. To be an FFL you must apply with and be approved by the ATF & actually be in the firearms business.

For a transferrable gun that anyone can own in a free state, examples:

EBR, thanks for posting these goodies. Keeps me motivated, haha!!

Some day I will be free…then the hunt is on for an actual H&K MP5SD with either an 0-1-3 or 0-1-D trigger group.

Yes, I know it will be $$$. I figure if I just keep collecting aluminum cans, eventually I’ll have enough.

The SD is a great gun! I was able to shoot one that a friend owns and it's awesome. We don't have one, but we do have something in a bit more compact package:

I doubt there are many, if any, "actual H&K MP5SD" transferable guns. They are all conversions done on HK-94's. Practically speaking, it makes no difference on good ones. A friend of mine had an S&H, where he re-did the markings and everything, and would be hard to tell from an original.

Nice!!

I was issued an SD back in the day. Did my 40-hour MP5 operators course with it and it was my companion for years. Such an awesome weapon.

But your version is really cool, too!! Again, thanks for sharing.

Haha, yes you might be right. Super rare, that’s for sure.

I’ll have to make do with its Turkish equivalent. Will still be fun to have!!

The K gun above is Zenith manufactured. Not as sexy as an HK, but runs great for much less!

And that’s what really matters in the end…if the clone looks like a duck, has a manual of arms like a duck, and runs like a duck, then…load and make ready haha!!

I like my MKE SBR MP5K PDW clone as well. It’s not a real SP5K but it fills the itch until I can find one 50% off!

There are several builders who make MP5SD rifles such as Dakota Tactical. They are costly and from what people who own them say they get dirty quick.

It's been a while since the MP5 armorers course, but IIRC, they recommended cleaning every 1,000 rounds for non-SD, and every 300 rounds for an SD.

When I took the Operators Course, we shot I *think* 3,000 rounds over 4 days. We cleaned them one time (mainly because that was a module of the course) and they ran just fine.

The SD's were really grimy at the end though, haha!!

Man, good times...gotta get to a free state!!

How about the suppressor itself? What's their recommended cleaning interval?

Again, it's been a while (2004 or so), but the MP5SD 300 round interval (if that's right) was for the weapon, the suppressor wasn't designed to be opened or cleaned. You'd unscrew it from the barrel, then tap/blow out any loose fouling, make sure there wasn't any crud on the threads, then wipe the outside down.

They made some sort of cleaning jig that threaded into the end of the suppressor and you'd use that to clean the barrel ports and threads. It looked like one of those brushes they sell to clean car battery terminals.

I know that if you let it go too long, it could be difficult to get the suppressor unscrewed. It would take two guys to disassemble (one to hold the gun, another to twist the suppressor haha!!).

ETA: I'm sure there are pics on the net, but when we were demoing the weapons, the HK Rep has a cutaway MP5SD to show us, including the suppressor. Very unique design. And that design was from the late 60's/early 70's.

Ah, the pipe brush cleaning tool for the SD barrel. Made one.

I was thinking more about The Dip for the can. I just wouldn't know how to get rid of that nasty solvent afterward.

I think Silencer Shop did a youtube on cleaning with a sandblaster, but of course with separate baffles.

I used the dip a few times and it was very effective but disposal was an issue. Can’t pour it down the drain, can flush it because it could effect my septic system and could not pour it onto the dirt because I didn’t want that shot getting into my water table since my house is on a well. I ended up pouring it into some old engine oil and turned it into Walmart for disposal LOL.

Now I use a soda blaster that I got from HF and it works great but it’s messy.

Yeah, but if you do it outside and the soda just falls on the ground, it doesn't hurt anything, right?

Hahaha, that is smart! What do oil recycling outfits do with that used oil?

Do you have the soda blaster go inside the suppressor to clean in between the baffles? If I can find the correct attachment for my sandblaster cabinet, can use other mild abrasives like walnut shells, or glass beads?

I used my sodablaster inside my shop - ONCE and never again. The residue from the blaster spread all over the basement that is next to my shop but separated by a wall. I had dust particles for weeks afterwards kind of like how when you go to the beach you have sand that seems to get over everything. I now blast outside on the cement and then wash it off with water afterwards. The grass in the area does not seem effected by it so I just keep doing it.

Some pretty cool stuff in this thread. I'll see what I can dig up to post from my little collection. After a decade + in AZ, I have a few.

My Rem 870 SBS 12" with Salvo can. Great for home defense, clay tossing with buds, deer (with slugs) and rabbits. I removed two of the baffles from the Salvo and 39" nose to tail makes it handy for most everything. A little nose heavy, but gotta work out more! My girlfriend even likes it since it's not "too loud"!

Still seems hearing safe at the 10" length instead of 12".
