Default Another one bites the dust... RIP Dom's Outdoor in Livermore

I was in the area and decided to stop by Dom's and chat up the gun counter folks.... MAN their last day is this Sunday the 18th. They are picked clean... maybe some boots and work clothes, but the gun counter was pretty barren. They had a bunch of Plano pistol boxes for $5/ea I bought a Butler Creek Tini Bikini for $1. I stopped in a couple months back and they just had bolt actions and shotguns... their inventory was understandably pretty wiped out.

Their gun counter folks were always helpful and knowledgeable and always treated PPT customers with respect. That will be a big loss in the east bay.

Was there last weekend. they had awesome deal on Whites and hawthorn boots. All EE width. Whites apparently does not screw around when they say EE width. Could not find a pair that fit.

No idea... they were on limited hours for awhile due to the Coof. I know guns/ammo were flying off the shelves last March. Maybe they had trouble restocking.

heard they were having trouble with stock because companies are keeping stock to sell through their own web sites and giving priority to larger, on-line stores. There is a lot of redevelopment going on around them and I expect they got an offer they couldn't refuse for the property.

Competition from big box stores on clothes. Small guys cannot keep higher markup.
It's all about inventory turnover.

Boots and some camping supplies was about all that’s left
when I went a couple weeks ago; everything is 50% off.

Goodbye Dom’s, the American version of REI

I moved from Livermore to Nevada four years ago. Before that move I thought that eventually the stores with "character" would close and that "Old Livermore" feel would go with them. Dom's, Baughman's and the Donut Wheel. Heck, OSH closing was a hit to area.

I hope J&R hang in there, I used to camp at the place.

Donut wheel is still hanging tough.

J&R is just not the same... Randy passed and it is under his son’s mgmt now. Still good people, but Different feeling. I hope they make it as well.

Dom's was truly a gem. Maybe my favorite of them all.

Bummer! I’m a bit north, but loved that place!

Very sad to hear about Dom's. I loved that place as both a kid and as an adult. Used them to do a PPT before and they were very user friendly. Whenever I was repairing gear, I used to love stopping by there. They had all kinds of webbing, fastex clips, grommets, etc. I have no idea where I will be able to find those types of items in the area now that Dom's is gone.

I also loved going to American Outdoor Sports in Livermore. They moved to a different location a couple blocks away, then changed ownership and I think changed names too, but same place. I am hoping that place doesn't succumb too. It's a crying shame how many gun shops have gone away over the years in this state that is so hostile to gun ownership.
