AK Strikeforce (without the 3 lower rails installed.....they come with inserts to cover the slots if not used) I really like the palm swell on them. Comfortable to hold. @wayoutwest They are screws...not rivets, and have been filled in, and filed rounded before paint. So they probably do look big for rivets. ![]() The fact you thought they were rivets let's me know I did a good job on them. Thanks. I am surprised no one asked about the cleaning kit trap door in the butt stock though. I modified the Tapco with a piece of PVC tubing, and a couple of screws to work like the original wood stock for storing the cleaning kit. Last edited by nicoroshi; 06-25-2009 at 1:19 PM.. |

I got this AK-47 off of another board and thought I would post some pictures.
This was a Russian Non-Matching Type III kit that was re-welded using the original milled receiver. These kits have some cool history. Here is some info I took of another board explaining it. I did not write this. Quote:

I have been acquiring some Yugo M70 AK furniture with "Trench Art" for an upcoming "turbothis" re-weld project. I got to thinking it would be cool if I could get some info on the carvings. I figure some of them are dates but as to the rest I have no clue? If anyone here speaks Cryillic or can translate the words for me I would be Stoked! As to the dates.....could these be battles fought in the Serb/Croat war? Any info members could shed would be much apprectiated!!!

It could if not applied right.
Need to rough up (sandpaper), and completely de-grease (gunscrubber) the area to be painted. Then after the multiple thin coats are allowed to set you bake it at 400 degrees for 30 minutes. On the rifles I have painted this way it has held up really well. |

Finally finished tweaking out the problems in my flat build...
Tools used: big chisel, big hammer, little hammer, sand paper, belt sander, vibration sander, steel wool, adjustable wrench, dremel tool, drill press, and lots of Duracoat. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by ucla_jtsuei; 06-28-2009 at 5:24 PM.. |

Do you sand and bake in oven between each coat? Or Sand between each coat, then bake when done? |

The thin coats are by the instructions. Apply a thin coat. Wait 5-10 minutes. Apply a second. Continue till can is empty. Let dry completely (normally let them set for 3-4 hours to overnight) then bake. Wife doesn't let me use the house oven for it so I heat up the BBQ to 400 degrees (gas). Shut down two of the three burners, and leave the last one on low. Place parts on aluminum foil over the burners that are not on, and close lid. Let bake (using the indirect heat) for 30 minutes to an hour. Done. @Travis8128 ROFLMAO! Told you he went for shock value. It shoots great though. Last edited by nicoroshi; 06-29-2009 at 4:24 PM.. |

I just received my Yugo M70 Re-Weld back from "Turbothis" and thought I would share some pictures. I have been working on acquiring a M70 kit with the "Battle Field Pick-Up" (BFPU) look for a while and am really pleased how this turned out!
The carvings are Serbian. The one containing the four S's (looks like a c) is the Serb Cross. The S's stand for (Samo, Sloga, Serba and Spasava) which translates to only unity saves a serb. The other carving is a Serbian Double Headed Eagle. The word is Miller as in the soldiers last name. http://mygunsnorthwest.com/project%20AK.html ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
