There is no reason to believe it’s easier (read: more likely to have any possibility of success) to get a CCW in Los Angeles if you have a collectors license and/or a California COE.

Oh, a gun nut who is so obsessed with guns that he had to get a collector's license. We really don't want a guy like this to carry a gun in public.
Yea, I actually believe someone in LASD's CCW Unit would look at it that way.

If you carry large amounts of $$$$$
If you are a jeweler and carry product They might issue to the two groups above as they could expect a thread that others might not. FFL- nope

Thought id chime in on this:
I applied using this as good cause; they did forward the application but it got shot down. That being said, id agree that it doesn't help but it doesn't hurt either. In the pre-interview questioning, the line of questioning was centered around the collection; were they secure and safely stored. Again, my circumstances are different from your application, but it really boils down to what you are a victim of. *this was done in LA* |

I can't say for LA at all, as others have said it's tough as it is.
Just saying you have an FFL03 isn't likely to work I think. What do you DO with it that puts you at risk more than just collecting? Do you buy from the general public? do they end up with your contact information? Do you transport valuable desirable firearms? Do you meet sellers or collectors in remote locations perhaps to demonstrate C&R firearms? Are you transporting ammo from other states as you legally can do with FFL03. If you go this route, prove the elevated risk. Do they want criminals to target an unarmed collector for their valuable and dangerous in the hands of criminals firearms? Justify the elevated risk that you require a CCW.

Simple fix......
Move to ANY county that borders L.A. County and as long as you meet the minimum qualifications you will get your permit and yes, if it is important enough to you to have a CCW you can do it! ![]()
