It’s a DSA voyager series. No carry handle or bipod cut barrel. I replaced the fixed holland type rear sight that comes with and installed a standard FN adjustable rear. Furniture is excellent condition basically unissued steyr furniture. Mine has a sand cut bolt carrier. Rifle runs 100% from day one with close to 1k rounds through it using about 15 different .mil issue 20 round mags. It’s a fantastic rifle that was very attractively priced, at least my example is. I had a real fn fal back in the day but sold it and my hk91 before the original ca AW ban due to fear and ignorance on how it was going to work. Since then both have been replaced with ptr91 and DSA voyager and i now also live out of Ca. Wish i still had the originals obviously but nowadays they are too cost prohibitive and these scratch my itch for the classic European battle rifles.

Nice stuff!

I bought two FAL's from Atlantic recently and haven't had a chance to shoot either one yet. They appear identical to yours except one has the carry handle and integrated bipod. They seem like beasts though.

Awesome man congrats. Yea Atlantic really does a great job. I always recommend people try and do business with them if possible, both in Ca and out of Ca, they go the extra mile. The sling on mine is an original and they can be found really cheap at numrich and sometimes sarco. It’s a really excellent rifle and would absolutely be my choice of issue battle rifle between the G3, FAL, and M14 if I had to hump one and fight with one. Considering what an HK nutjob I am, I’m able to set aside my bias and declare the FAL to be a better design in my opinion from an ergonomic and simplicity perspective. Both are great shooters, but FOR ME, the FAL offers a more user friendly design in both use and maintenance. My HK is softer shooting, but my bolt gap is perfect, i’ve got a heavy duty buffer and MG rubber buttpad on it so all that really helps. I have my FAL set a little overgassed on the adjustment but it ejects with authority like the HK. I could probably bring it down a few clicks and still have 100% ejection. I pretty much only shoot cheap ball ammo in these because i only shoot these to 300 meters on steel and precision is not what these are about for me. Any 7.62 or .308 ammo i can find cheap I shoot in them.

My M1A is a special rifle in my heart since i’ve wanted one since i was a kid. It feels great, shoots great, looks great, hell it even smells great when you shoot it (the wood stock) and lastly it won me a silver medal in the FF olympics high power service rifle competition. That said, I’d rather be issued an FAL if I had to go into service with one of the 3. It’s truly an excellent battle rifle design that has really proven itself around the world. It’s the right arm of the free world after all. Enjoy your FALs Sir! Pictures welcome here btw.

Good to hear the DSA’s shoot well. I had one in my cart to put on layaway w/Atlantic (Classic 21” bbl w/carry handle and bipod cut), but hesitated on it. I’ll likely grab one once they’re available again. I have a PTR91 and a couple M1A’s, so adding the FAL would complete the 7.62 NATO battle rifle triumvirate.

As far as ammo, ever shoot any steel case through the FAL? Or just brass cased ball?

Just brass case ball. My favorite is prvi. but i’ve shot a bunch of different stuff in it. HK’s don’t like stuff with tar sealant such as cavim. After a few rounds the chamber flutes will get gummed up and extraction will become problematic, at least that’s been my experience.

I prefer the FAL to the G3 and m1a overall. I feel it is more ergonomic than the G3, and a simpler design maintenance wise compared to the m1a and g3. I shoot tighter groups with the m1a. It has the best trigger. I really like all 3 of them a lot honestly, but if i could pick one to take into military service it would be a fal.
