ok, so here are some pics from my last hunt - The large animal is a Nilgai - an exotic that runs wild in South Texas. They are an antelope from Indian/Pakistan, that escaped a zoo train or something 100 years ago and now they're wild down there. They are probably the best tasting game animal around. They're very wary animals, and don't usually let you get too close - this one was just out of luck, the wind was blowing and he didn't hear us as we closed in on him from the Humvee/Striker shooting platform. 2 shooters, one dead Nilgai Bull. This is the first one that I've been able to kill - I shot one other one, and we tracked it for over a mile, with no body...this one was dead in 15 yards of where it was shot.

Eh, I don't buy too much into the mercury trip. They're planter trout up there, and how often do you really eat the fish you catch? Most of the time we throw them back. I don't think a few fish a year will hurt anything.

Haha that launch is great. Yeah I'll let you know. Maybe after this weather clears up, I believe they only stock during the spring. I don't remember where but there is a website that tells you when and how much and what they stocked. Loch lomand is a good place to go fishing too, its in felton IIRC.

ahh must be red nose pit. He came from the pound, We called him buba, Most gentile pit ive ever seen. easy on the leash. We thought he was retarted a little though. He was attacked by another much smaller pittbull once and got his butt kicked. He didnt fight back. we couldnt find him at the hog and we thought the dogs caught another hog. Some guy who came with us had brought his new pitt and it worked him over. Kind of a good thing though i guess we knew for absolute that he wasnt a dog fighter after that. Hes long gone. he died few years back. Got himself cancer i think. I wasnt his owner. I borrowed him from a friend when I didnt have a catch dog. I seen that dog eat his food and then **** into the bowl before he was done chewing his food. I think he was a little touched.

Here's one of the best bragging pictures ever. My then 4 year old grand daughter with her first fish, a sandshark off of Gaviota pier.

I've never hunted pigs with dogs, as long as you know what to do if one gets hurt and take the proper precautions like those collar guards and such I dont see a problem with it. I have used my Brittany Spaniels for pheasant hunting however, and I can tell you watching the dogs work and have fun out in the field is way more enjoyable and entertaining than shootin the birds. I would imagine it would be the same way with pig hunting.

Unless you strip down naked walk to your hunting spot and kill it with your bare hands its not fair chase.

We have the same things were I live, a guy up the road for me raises pigs, huge ones, then lets them go on private property for paid hunts. Stupidest thing Ive every seen, and ive seen alot of stupid things. You really want to know how good you are, try bear hunting or pig hunting without the dogs, and then ill show respect. To me , using dogs, hell, might as well use a helicopter like they do on hunts in alaska. How can that be construed as fun? So you can brag you shot this big bull, but leave out the part where the guy gave you the gps cordinates that led you right to them? That aint hunting in my mind. YMMV. From my own experience, hunting bear is pretty easy without the dogs, I have no idea why you would to make it any easier. As for pigs, they can be harder, but pig aint much different than deer around my parts for hunting, well, maybe a bit harder than deer, but not by much. A few friends hunt turkey, and ive been told thats pretty tough hunting. do have a dog story though.... Last month i was in the hills riding my quad with some friends just screwing around, 3 guys come up in a beat up POS pickup with the bed /hood converted for dogs for hunting bear/pig/cats/whatever... all 3 looked like they had sex with their mom, and there was no doubt in my mind these guys poach bear, probably for the bladders, so they can have a income other than collecting welfare. You know how you can just tell some people are shady? Thats the feeling we all got, but anyway, they stopped and asked us if they saw any dogs, and that they lost 2. They had the antenna for the radio freq collars hanging out the window, and we heard em driving around slow for a bit before we took off. We got a real strange vibe off them. Every time we asked a question they were real evasive, and didnt want to tell us anything..then they contridicted themselves.. they were up to something shady. Anyway, not saying that people using dogs are derilects, because there are plenty of nice hardworking people I know that use dogs, and for whatever reason they believe in using them for hunting. I just dont subscribe to that theory. i just thought id share that story, thats all. |

The same ones that put feed out for weeks before hunting season to get the game there, some even put the camera in the tree to catch the times they come by. I mean, cmon, we cant be inconveinenced by wasting half our day waiting for that deer to come by. Lets get that time frame narrowed down to a few hour window so I can get back home, get on the internet and brag about the big buck we got! Last edited by what2be; 02-19-2009 at 7:33 PM.. |

Bobcat is in season. Not many bears moving this time of year and they are out of season. They could have been running a lion. |

The thing that pisses me off is how can DFG have no season for mountain lion when the mountain lion is the only animal around here that has NO natural predaters? I dont get it at all. But then again, their gonna cancel salmon season again and screw us, but its still ok in the delta and the indians can keep all the gill netting going all they want. Makes no sense. |

I got this one with my bow but I am looking forward to go on a hog hunt with dogs in the near future
![]() ![]() Hey, I don't know if some of you are PETA members on this site but let me know if you are ![]() I know I am new here but I do want to say something about some of the negative talk about hunting with dogs. Please don't talk trash on someone else's hunting method. All hunters should support other hunters regardless of method (as long as it is legal) as well as all other shooting sports. We all should support other methods of hunting such as with dogs or birds of prey or we may all loose. It's like some bowhunters that think that shooting with a gun is not sporting or some guys thinking that taking a 500 yard + shot is not challenging. A lot of nice photos and thank you for sharing for them.
I've always been of the mindset that trophy photos should be staged to afford the the greatest dignity to the game. Try to make them look like they're asleep. Putting in a stick to prop open the bear's mouth and photos with the grass and twigs coming out of a pig's mouth is poor photography IMO. |

In Europe it is common to put grass in the mouth of dead animals as a sign of respect, (their last meal, so to speak).
