Savage 10FP .308 w/ Lupy 3.5x10 VX-III at 100m shooting,
Hornady 150gr SST about .004 off the lands Varget (weight listed in pic) Rem Brass (I know...I know...) WIN Primers This is my first time out shooting my own reloads about a month ago. I was shooting through the chrony so I wasn't trying for accuracy but it just happened. Needless to say I have a few different loads in the 42-43.2gr ready to go for next weekend... The 42gr group was .718" tossing out the flyer...

Took out the Savage 10 today and got some decent groups at 100 yards.
Here's the best group of the day... ![]() ![]() And the rifle... ![]() I'm not sure how to properly measure groups nor do I have the appropriate tools however it seems to be sub-MOA. Great rifle!! |

Cuyama, 2006. First relay on a clean center. Real light wind from 9:00. The second sighter is the 10 at 10:00, everything else was for score. (200-11x) It was shot with a 6BR Improved built on a 50 year old Model 70. Scope was a Weaver T25. Oh yeah, jacket and sling supported too.

no, just got home and ate dinner. No pics, the camera died, but it was what you would expect zeroing an aimpoint at 50yds.
trap was good though, did pretty well with my CD Field Tactical. |

My Remington 700VS in 308 with 168gr SMK's, 39.5gr Varget, Federal match cases, CCI BR2 primers. I'm going out on a limb here and say I have approx. 4K rounds down the tube.. but I'm not sure as I never kept a log book on this rifle when I bought it back in '94 This was shot from a bench at the San Leandro Davis St. Range about 10am, spring of '08

I believe it is around 3/4" or less.. I should have taken the pic with a ruler in it. I'll have to see if I can dig up the target and measure it...

still working on it. this was first day at 100M with a supersniper scope 20x42, rra varmint upper with 20" bull barrel, and u-15 stock. RRA lpk with 2-stage trigger + doublestar lower. i tried sighting it in at 25M and was struggling. so an ex-navy guy said just go striaght to 100M. scope probably sighted for that and if i'm on paper already at 25m though a high, i shoudl be OK at 100m
rifle and scope outshoots me, of course.but not bad for first time out. my neck was sore after though. but i aim to be like the guys here that have 1-2" grouping. ![]() ![]() |

Very nice Impacto,
Do you leave your scope mounted at all times?

did you use a Rifle or a Hole Punch, for what ever reason your groups don't look like Bullet holes.

I agree, either he punched holes or threw marbles or shoot ultra low velocity rounds, like at 40fps projectiles....A rifle with 500 fps punches holes cleaner then those.

You can't reliably use 0.223" as the hole size in the target without first measuring an actual hole in the actual target you are measuring.
The actual hole left by a bullet is usually 0.020" or more smaller than the bullet diameter. Therefore, groups calculated by subtracting FULL bullet diameter from a measured group size are not accurate.

Thanks. It's a White Oak Armament Service Rifle upper. Nothing special about it, except I did opt for the 1/4 MOA sights. And the staked rear sight.

Took my 20" Savage 10 FP (the most accurate rifle in my stable) out over the weekend. Here are some of the 5-shot 100 yard groups that I were getting off of the bipod. Ultramax 168 gr. match loads are the the left, PPU 168 gr. match loads on the right.
