SC sheriff candidates' forum TONIGHT (Tues, 4/24), in Mtn View!

The first chance for much of the public to get a close-up look at the candidates for the Santa Clara County Sheriffs’ race will be Tuesday with the first of several scheduled election forums.
The Tuesday evening forum, hosted by the Services, Immigrant Rights, and Education Network (SIREN), is set for the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts. Two more will be held this week in Campbell and Cupertino, with another two scheduled for mid-May.
Sheriff Laurie Smith is running for an unprecedented sixth term as the county’s top cop, a post she has held since 1998 when she became the first female sheriff in state history. Smith is already the longest-serving sheriff in Santa Clara County and has been with the agency since 1973.
