Painted my Mossberg 500

I've had this gun for well over a decade, and now that I've taken up waterfowl hunting I decided it needed a new look.

Base coat is Cerakote H (sand), sprayed on with a $8 Harbor Fright airbrush and baked in a conventional oven (wife was not happy). Camo layers are Krylon and were masked with local plants for a pattern custom-matched to my locale. Sealed it all with a clear coat of Krylon.

The plan is to spray it down with brakekleen or some other solvent when the Krylon wears out or I decide to change the pattern. That should strip it down to the Cerakote and then I can cheaply and easily re-spray with more Krylon.

My inner Bubba is proud.

Looks blind worthy. The Krylon camo paint is pretty damn durable. Hit it with some Minwax satin clear and it will last a looooong time. I have done a few guns with it and have yet to have to touch it up.

I did the same thing to my sons hunting air rifle a few years back and it still looks good today. He has bagged many a rabbit.
