Default Berdoo Canyon clean-up

On Monday I spoke with the BLM Outdoor Recreational Planner for this area. I will be meeting with her as early as next week, after she has a chance to speak with a Law Enforcement Ranger familiar with the canyon.

The meeting will be to go over what resources are available, what areas of the canyon the BLM will support a cleanup on, and other potential organizations with an interest in contributing to this project.

I have spoken with the manager at 2nd Amendment Sports and have been given permission to post flyers to solicit volunteers. I should have a flyer done shortly after my meeting with the BLM, and will attach it to this post when complete.

I would like to aim at doing this on a Saturday sometime before the end of April.

I would like to ask you for your help if you live in this area or if it is not a burden for you to make the trip. Please pm me or text Justin @ 909 708 7106 if I can count on your participation or if you would like to provide material support for our success.

Thank you

One of the things that would help with these clean up efforts is a location. California is a large state, and the county of San Bernardino is a large county within that state.

So help out those who would like to volunteer, or simply call it by it's correct name.

It is called Berdoo Canyon shooting area on Berdoo Canyon Rd in Indio, CA in Riverside County. It is backed up against the southern border of Joshua Tree National Park. Most people will take the 10 east past Palm Springs, Cathedral City, and La Quinta to exit North on Dillon Rd.

Pm me or text me if you think you can make it. More specifics to follow once I meet with the BLM.

Thanks!

Thumbs up

This is something that always bothers me, no respect given to the desert. Such a beautiful place covered in thrash. I’m in brother! I have a pick up truck I don’t mind using to haul stuff with. I always try and take out more then I bring in.

I have 5 people besides myself. Aiming for the last weekend of April regardless of BLM support.

I will be there 9am on April 28th. I have a sixth volunteer.
I will provide water and trash bags. I will look into getting gloves.
Bring a hat, sunscreen, and any other food and drinks you would like.

Is this still on? And is the site accessible to a minivan?

Still on. I will be there 730. You can access it with a minivan. Meet up is at the end of the paved portion of the road. If that area is occupied, I will setup somewhere before the pavement ends. Siskin will be there with a large truck and we will have easy ups, a few chairs, Ice and water. The temperature should get up to 94F so plan accordingly. There will be some shooting afterwards. All are welcome, but no alcohol please.
Your help will be appreciated.

If you exit Dillon Rd. and head north it is 6.4 miles to Berdoo Canyon Rd. On your right.

I just want to say thank you to SISKIN for all the time and energy he put into helping with the cleanup efforts at Berdoo Canyon shooting area yesterday. We had a great time shooting after the cleanup. I am truly grateful!

Shot in Berdoo Canyon this week and it could use a cleaning again. I don't shoot on BLM land very often but all of us in the group of three expressed dismay at the amount of trash left in the shooting areas.
