Oh, well. Have there been/will there be, other forums for the candidates?

I figured that from your posting re. their answers. This time I was focusing on the audience and how much they care about CCWs, as best you could tell.

I'd guess about 50 - 70 people then.

This event was hosted by the SJ/SV NAACP?

Best to organize for 2022 sheriff's election, if you guys want CCWs. Contact the San Diego County Gun Owners PAC for advice. Best not to assume you'll win CCWs via the federal courts without fighting for them politically at the sheriff's level. The longer you guys wait to organize and plan, the longer you'll have to wait until you win. Smith is a Repub. The GOP is pro-2nd A. Get her, like Gore, to act consistently with GOP values.

Just getting Santa Clara to "yellow" would be a significant gain and gets you more than halfway to "light green."

Or are you waiting until a SFBA Dem becomes sheriff?

You Santa Clara Co folk who want CCWs might contact your county Repub org and county Libertarian org to see if they'll make resolutions/other calling on Sheriff Smith to issue more CCWs, ideally for "self defense" as GC, either jointly or separately.

Libertarian:

ETA: It is kind of disappointing how few posters are in this thread. Santa Clara county is the most populous county in NorCal with almost 2M residents: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o..._in_California

Even the main SC Co CCW Information thread is relatively "dead" re this election: http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...352799&page=17

Where's the Golden State Second Amendment Council about this? gs2ac.com They've got a meeting January 25th with 2nd A attorney Don Kilmer as the featured speaker.

Looks like Smith is more vulnerable than she has been before. Now is the time for Santa Clara gunnies to approach her and say we'll support you if you liberalize CCW issuance IMMEDIATELY. Don't expect her to be willing to change her CCW GC standard AFTER she's reelected and no longer needs your support.

Dear Friend,

Just a few weeks until Election Day and Joe is surging in the polls. According to the Mercury News, he is in a statistical tie for second place to Laurie Smith and IS running second among Independents, Santa Clara County's second-largest voter bloc.

We need to raise $10,000 right away to pay for signs, robo-calls, and other voter contact materials to ensure Joe gets into the runoff.

Will you help today?

Please donate $25, $50, $100, $250, $500 or a maximum of $1,000 today!

Remember, Joe is the ONLY candidate for Sheriff who opposes SB 54 and sanctuary cities and WILL issue CCWs for legitimate self-defense.

Please contribute your maximum amount today!

Thanks!

Less than 20 weeks to go until the Nov 06 runoff election. Does anyone have any evidence/proof of who will issue more CCWs, Smith or Hirokawa?

Have any of you started a group to ask either candidate their position on CCWs?

Is Golden State 2nd Amendment Council taking a position re. them?

Like I said before, Smith is vulnerable, she's in a runoff. She may be open to slightly increasing CCW issuance (i.e., broadening acceptable GC), to keep her job. But you've got to be organized and have lots of members. (SC Co is the most populous in NoCal so that shouldn't be a problem.)

For me, her twenty years in office, is all the proof I need.

So is that why you're organizing to fight her?

If you think Hirokawa will issue more CCWs, you are organizing/volunteering/donating to ensure he wins, right???

Please share what you're doing so that other CGNers in Santa Clara Co can join/support your efforts at CCW reform.

So, in a little over 3 months you'll be electing Smith or Hirokawa for sheriff. I assume they'll have Meet & Greet/Q&A sessions before that, maybe even debates. Who will attend those to question them about their CCW GC policies?

Two months to go until the election....

From: http://apps.mercurynews.com/election-results/

Quote:
SHERIFF

Precincts: 988 of 988 reported

LAURIE SMITH 135,981 42.99%

JOHN HIROKAWA 102,645 32.45%

JOE LA JEUNESSE 35,306 11.16%

JOSE SALCIDO 27,872 8.81%

MARTIN J. MONICA 14,515 4.59%
Of the 25% that neither Smith nor Hirokawa got in the primary, Hirokawa needs to win 18% -- about 2/3rds.

But that's assuming the proportions stay the same in the general election -- they won't. A bunch of people who didn't bother to vote in the primary (it's summer after all....) will show up to vote in the general. Those folks, IMO, are more likely to default to the incumbent.

You can contact either of them via the FB pages and ask them their stance re. CCWs.

Hirokawa's campaign website homepage: https://www.johnhirokawa.com/
His FB campaign page: https://www.facebook.com/events/1897671647184078/

Smith's campaign website homepage: https://sherifflauriesmith.com/
