My uncle bought one of these guns back in the day brand new and I had shot it a few times as a kid growing up and always loved how it shot and felt. Finally found one to make my own. This will be a family heirloom for sure plan on keeping this one and passing it down

Nice. A bit light for heavy target use, but a great bird gun.
I have my Gandma's 20g from the mid 40's. Still would like to get a new stock as the one on it was shortened for her 5' frame. I have a bit sloppy fitting slip on pad on it now.

^ Yes the Ithaca model 37 ejects from the bottom. I think a few other companies copied that design but I'm not sure they're still making those shotguns either.
it's handy for lefties and righties alike and it also lets you get right up to a wall (as if you were doing police work and you were desperately seeking cover / concealment while shooting) without shells jamming as you work the action or bouncing back at you. the one negative that comes to mind is it is dropping empty shotgun shells at your feet so a clumsy person who was walking and shooting MIGHT slip on them. Here is a video of a neat trick on how to unload the Ithaca model 37 without racking the action... https://youtu.be/Xh-0NXzzFr0 |

Classic!
My preferred shotgun is my Stevens 350, it’s not even close to the quality of an Ithaca, but the bottom ejection action is just so tidy.

Stevens also made some neat shotguns. I found a 620 riot gun and a Model 311 SxS in 12 gauge, both with 18 inch barrels. Not only that but the 620 is a JM Browning design and both show better workmanship than what's currently available on the low end of the shotgun market. No idea where OP found it, but if you're not just kicking tires, check out this 37 with an extra barrel... WTS-Ithaca-M87-Deer-Slayer-2-barrel-set-600-OBO I bought a Model 37, an 870, and the Stevens 620 from the seller...no issues whatsoever on any of the deals. hth

Congrats! I have one of the cheap Chinese clones. It was a bit stiff at first but a few range session got it broken in fine. I do like the design. Hope you enjoy!
