According to some on the CMP forum, that ^ 1911 is a RR slide, an Ithaca lower, and the “OB-79” EP means it was rebuilt by the USMC in Barstow.

Seems well worth the $$ for a USMC rebuild. Neat.

The OP on CMP said he took it out and it fired great. The OP also said that he didn’t get any notice from CMP, just the call from his FFL to come pick up his pistol, haha!!

Still hoping I get the call, haha!!

It does have a serial from the 1945 Ithaca range. I always presume RR frame when I see FJA inspector marks, but he also inspected Ithacas. Guess that will teach me

How is that possible, I thought the instructions said to leave the payment portion and grade requested blank? Didn't the CMP say they will let ask you whether you want an auction pistol or a graded pistol and ask for payment at that time?

I was thinking the same thing - they said not to submit payment info.

I re-read...looks like he DID receive a phone call (no email) from CMP to tell him he’d been picked, and I assume that’s when selection and payment info was given.

He DIDN’T receive a shipping email from CMP, just a call from his LGS when the 1911 arrived.

Sorry for the confusion, haha!!

"We have made numerous calls and no one answers or bad number, or declined the offer. Yes alot of people decided not to purchase a pistol."

Cool, better chances for the rest of us.

Agreed!!

Amazing what nonsense the CMP has gone through with this 1911 deal. Nicest bunch of folks I’ve ever met. True southern hospitality.

Congrats! How did they contact you? Also, what did they say or offer you, and prices?

I guess if they are only at 2100, we still have a ways to go - I got my fingers crossed

Not sure what this "crack" is you are referring to, you must know though, if you would recognize the effects of someone else being on it.. Must be some sort of Hallucinogenic thing you California Hippies smoke is all I cam figure.

I use Pall Malls.

Anyway. Yes if the pics of the first Remington Rand would be what I would receive. 500.00 tops. Now the second Remington pic posted with the penciling looks better. But still in the 700.00 Range for me. Not even sure if either are actually Firearms received form the CMP though.

I think you are going to see alot of people hide what they get from the masses. Most will be peddled to a third party pretty quickly also.. They may not be so proud to show them off to everyone out of embarrassment.LOL

Do you really believe that you can pick up a USGI 1911 for $500-700? You really think that's the market rate? I'll buy every USGI 1911 you own for $800. Put your money where your mouth is. I will. Seriously. Let me know. Any functioning 100% GI gun you own I'll give you $800 for right now.

I'm still waiting for my number. From the sounds of things and the reject rate, they'll have 6,000 guns for sale with the rest going to parts and auction. Whatever happens happens.

Maybe I just scored a deal on a a bunch of 1911s for $800.

No way. I'm buying all of them. I'll make you a deal and sell you every one he sells me for the low price of $1050.

WOW, you guys are really thin skinned.

Now lets wait and see the pics when you get em. Look forward to seeing them all. I really am excited to see what everybody ends up with. And hope they all do good.

I think they mean that some people who sent in, have opted out. Could be wrong, but that is what I have read. Could be many reasons, they may be scared of what they may get. Life changes financially may have caused some to opt out. Probably many different reasons a individual would choose to.

Not going to look through all that have sold. But I think was decent at a little over 800.00 Maybe not. I am sure if I was in the market and patient. There is a good deal out there on A US 1911.

I have bought many Firearms at 50% of the market value at the time. 1911s are not somehow impossible to find at great deals , They are not somehow magically immune from being found at good deals, if you put the efffort in.. Just have to be patient. And put in the effort.

You think alot of these 1911s presented on Gun Show Tables. Were bought at anywhere near the asking price they are being sold for? I will answer it for you. NO they were not. They buy at 5 or 600.00 and sell for twice as much.

So AR22, are you just full of it or are you ready to sell me an $800 USGI 1911? That auction isn't a USGI gun, either. Take a look at the lowered and flared ejection port.

You try to float a battleship of conversation on a canoe of intellect. It doesn't help anybody.

The frame may be a USGI by Colt, but the pistol in that link is not a Remington Rand. As I recall Remington Rand serial numbers started in the 7 digit range.

Correction, Remington SN started in the 900k range.

Of the first couple hundred pistols they inspected, an admin over at the CMP forum said that a significant number were rejected as unsaleable in their condition. As to why that is, I have no idea.

Yeah, I don't think that is a USGI anything. The purveyor of that link and the accompanying BS should be given as much accord as a child or a dog. He knows not much about what he speaks.

Default Cmp 1911's. Updated 1/29//18 with Cmp news release

Just came in from CMP yesterday. Remington Rand frame and Ithaca slide. Pretty happy with it.

Here is a link to some pics. https://www.rjkventures.com/blogs/guns/cmp-1911
